This place looks like an apparel store combined with a café. At first, I thought that I had entered a wrong place because I saw shoes, bags, and other fashion items here when I entered the place. Then after I went inside, I saw tables and waiter/ess. I think this café adopts a vintage theme. The floor is not tiled, the stairs material is wood, and the chairs similar to chairs from schools. Besides chairs, there are some tables with sofas too. The light is dim, yet bright enough to read or see others. The illustrations on the menu book are cute. Unfortunately, many foods were unavailable, I had to change my food choices for 4 times (perhaps it was because I went here during public holiday season). To make it worse, I waited for a long time for my food while other tables has enjoyed their food. Then I asked the waitress why my food hasn't come. Not long after I complained, one of the waitresses was confessing that she hadn't input my food and saying sorry for many times. Because she was honest about her mistake, I appreciated it and became willingly to wait more. The food portion is enough even though it's quite pricey. The taste of the food is satisfying. Overall, this café is a nice place to hangout...
Read moreCarpentier Kitchen in Surabaya is one of those spots that just nails the cozy, laid-back vibe. It’s tucked away within a residential estate alongside a few other cafes, giving it a bit of a hidden gem feel. The menu has a nice mix of options (the burgers looked pretty good!) - we just went for coffee (latte and cold brew), fried calamari, and chocolate cake.
Fried calamari with the tartar sauce was pretty solid - the batter was nicely seasoned, and the sauce was very flavourful, with bits of onions and other unknown secret ingredients within.
Chocolate cake was decent, I would have preferred a more moist version, and the cold brew interestingly came with lemon - made for an interesting taste, although it was a bit too bitter for my liking.
The decor feels homey, with a touch of vintage charm that makes you want to settle in for a while. It’s a great place to relax, enjoy a good meal, and even browse around their little boutique section if you're in the...

I recently visited Carpentier Kitchen in Surabaya and was thoroughly impressed by the culinary delights and excellent service. The mango drink, brimming with fresh mango pieces, was a refreshing start to the meal. It perfectly complemented the main course, an Avocado Burger, which stood out with its fresh avocado slices - a testament to the quality of ingredients used here.
The highlight of the visit, however, was the Ultimate Burger. We decided to order two of these, and the waiter's surprised and friendly reaction added a personal touch to our dining experience. His genuine concern if we were sure about our order was endearing and showed the staff's attentiveness to customer needs.
Overall, my visit to Carpentier Kitchen was a memorable one, with each dish striking the right balance of flavor and presentation. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food and a pleasant dining atmosphere...
