Ayam Goreng Widuran — Restaurant in Surakarta

This place quite legendary in Solo I believe. Opposite GBI Keluarga Allah which this street area always crowded during Sunday whole day.

The size of the chicken was pretty big and came with some slices of cucumber and local lettuce. I thought it's yummy, but apparently it's not. The appearance of this chicken was oily and sticky and I couldn't taste anything but saltiness - like super salty!!!!!

The portion of the rice was pretty small compare to the size of the chicken (bonus with the saltiness) you need more than 1 rice because you cannot just eat it straight away like snacking.

2 thigh, dideh/saren/blood/ with sparepart (rempelo ati), soda gembira and bottle water cost...

Started selling fried chicken since 1973 at this location, opposite in front of Bioskop Star (movie theater). Then the theater became mega church, but this fried chicken restaurant kept running. Now 2nd and 3rd generation became chef and operator. One whole frozen chicken Rp 160.000 could be deliver to Jakarta by adding delivery cost (ongkir) Rp 30.000. So for people from olden day still could enjoy this...

Glad to be able to taste this viral restaurant, but to my liking, I'm not a big fan of this fried chicken. There's a bitter after taste, sticky feel of the kremes, although the chicken itself is fine.

Service was good & fast (we came on Thursday, during lunch time). Half chicken were sold out, thigh portions were the only available.

Fyi, the other outlet (near Pasar Gede) was closed...
