I am adding to this review and changing my score from a 3 to a 4.
Today I ordered the salami pizza and I have to say it was very good.
The chilli and garlic oils complement the pizza wonderly.
The reason I've changed my score is because the first time I ordered I think it was the wrong choice in terms of toppings and the pizza doesn't travel well (pizza generally doesn't).
Personally I feel this place does less complicated toppings better. Below you can find the review of my first visit.
I didn't dine in the restaurant so I cannot comment on the atmosphere. I ordered the sun-dried tomato pizza, mozzarella potato balls and also another meat pizza. The pizza that has balsamic on it was drizzled on and then cooked meaning it was a pool of balsamic. It should be drizzled on at the end. The bases are good and nice and crispy, however the potato balls just do not work in my opinion. They are under seasoned, low in mozzarella content and you only get three for the price. The pizzas were pretty cold and not much topping. We were told the place was the best on the island so we did have high hopes. I've been traveling the world for two years now and unfortunately this isn't in the top five. It's average however it's not...
Read moreAmazing food, Racist staff
Francesco’s is a really nice pizzeria in Gili T, we had a lot of fun here but our overall experience was marred by the racist behaviour of our servers and the owner.
We were a group of 12 people visiting from Asia and at the start everything was really good and we got a place to sit on top.
After going up, we ordered a lot of pizzas and pastas as well as drinks to enjoy our dinner. The food is no doubt amazing but mid way through our meal it felt as if our servers were not thrilled about having us there. The owner was present on top and visited every single table, asked for feedback, spoke to the guests and interacted with the people and almost all tables except ours.
The pizzas were amazing, especially the burrata one! The pesto pasta was delicious as well!
Towards the end, the staff was also behaving rudely, once the bill was brought to us, we called the staff for feedback and to ask for water, however, they just rudely told us to go down and pay the bill.
If you are Asian and okay with rude/racist behaviour, you can go here, else you should avoid. Non asians can go freely, you will have a...
Read moreMe and my husband ate here three times during our 10-day stay in Gili T. The first two times, when the owner was present, were both amazing and rivalled some of the best pizza either of us have ever eaten. However, we decided to come here for our final meal before leaving the island and were both utterly disappointed. This time the owner wasn’t around and the quality in food, service and atmosphere all considerably declined. As we arrived, the staff were being quite loud and messing around with each other, and had lost much of the attentiveness and professionalism we had previously experienced. Once the food arrived, it was instantly clear that standards had dropped - both of our pizzas were burnt, had way less toppings, and the “Italian Salami” which my husband had added to his pizza on our two prior visits had been replaced for cheap processed pepperoni (which was also burnt and just not very nice). It’s a shame because we would’ve both rated the place 5/5 all around, but would highly discourage anyone from bothering to try the food here unless the...
