Kampung has nice servers and a cool decor. Unfortunately the good news ends there. Our party of 4 went there because of the high rating and we honestly aren’t sure where it comes from.
Nice as they were, the service was dreadfully slow. It took at least 15 minutes just to get drinks. Lots of locals came in after we did and after we finally got our drinks, so we thought “surely it will get better”.
Unfortunately it did not. Our spring rolls that came out after 30 minutes or so were actually delicious. Finally, we thought, the food will redeem this place.
Nope. Our fried chicken and fish entres weren’t bad honestly, very spicy and flavorful. Bit the simple, basic, traditional Indonesian dishes if Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng were bland and terrible to put it lightly. That might be perfectly acceptable at Gili Air prices, but not for the high rating they are getting. It was just bad. As a business owner I hate leaving negative reviews, maybe that’s why this gets a 2 star instead of 1 star that other members of the party wanted to rate it. But this experience was so overall negative for our Indonesian experience (Ubud and Bali) that I couldn’t in good conscience not warn...

The nasi goreng just hit the points of nasi goreng and the curry was so good. It reminds me of my mom cooking. The curry has much flavour. You can taste the coconut milk and it served while hot. You should try it.
Ps : The place has the good vibe and chilling...
Read moreYes the service is rather slow, but enjoy the waiting time with chit chat. We went to Gili Air in fasting month which made them probably understaff. Their local dishes are good, they are well prepared. But yes. It's not a...
