Ayam Goreng Mbok Sabar — Restaurant in Yogyakarta

No frills restaurant that’s specialises in their delicious Yogja style chicken. Interior is basic and typical of a local Indonesian restaurant. The restaurant seems to consists of Indonesian locals and Indonesian tourist. Dinner crowd comes in around 7pm. We visited Friday night and it wasn’t too pact. The chicken is served with rice, side raw vegetables (lettuce and cicumber) and their signature sambal. The chicken is moist and so is the skin which is seasoned with local herbs and fried fresh with each order. Customer service is friendly, kind and polite. She knows a little English but I know some Malay and with the help of Google translate we could easily decipher the menu. Price is decent. There’s also a nice range of cold and hot drinks to choose. Would definitely recommend this place...

They serve really good Jogja style fried chicken. The taste is sweet and savoury. The meat is juicy and tender. I ordered the breast (which also include the wing) because they run out of thighs. Their sambal are also good. It is sweet and i think i can eat it with rice alone without the chicken. It is not really spicy tho. If you are into sweet and savoury fried chicken, this is your place. Even though in my opinion it is a bit pricey compare to other fried chicken. At the same price at the other place, you can get a fried duck and rice. It might because it is a touristy place located next to a hotel. But still,...

Stumbled upon this place, a local fried chicken joint, by accident . We were served by a businesslike lady who recommended the dishes to be tried, mostly fried chicken varieties. Not English speaking so some knowledge of Indonesian is essential but Google lens will be helpful.
