Pleasant Dining Experience at this Seafood Specialty warung.
Firstly, the place was super clean - hygiene is clearly of importance here and tables are sanitised right prior to diners being seated.
Don't expect any thrills and simple wall fans to cool down the dining space on a hot day, seated amongst canteen tables and stools.
Seafood selection is between Squid, Giant King Prawns, Grouper Fish, Pompano Fish, Asian Sea bass, Snappers. All super fresh and stock was plenty - we came around 2pm.
You can choose your seafood to be grilled, fried or even steamed and a variety of sambals and heat levels are offered to your prior to commencing the cooking!
We chose two delicious sides of Cah Kankung (Steamed Water Spinach with tons of Garlic and Chilli), Lalapan - fresh and raw crunchy vegetable selection of cucumber, string beans, bean sprouts and Kemangi leaf, simple steamed rice and selection of 4 sambals and we let the seafood do the rest of the talking.
Delicious Dabu Dabu sambal - l which is made from fresh tomatoes chilis and lemongrass, a more punchy Sambal Tomat from raw tomatoes and chills and Sambal Bawang, which had an unusual but welcome addition of Kemangi Leaf (think Indonesian basil) and Sambal Kecap - a thick and syrupy Sweet Soy, Tamarind and Chili sauce. All four had unique and interesting flavour combination with the coconut smoked seafood.
Prawns were juicy and soft, the grouper was super succulent and we only wish we could finish it - our eyes were bigger than our stomachs on arrival! Prices were very reasonable as you would expect to pay the market price - budget around 200k per person - on an empty stomach, much less if you've had a good breakfast beforehand.

The menu at Ikan Panggang Bu Bambang is a true delight. From Kerapu, Bawal, Kakap Putih, and Ikan Kue to Cumi, they offer a range that satisfies every seafood lover's cravings. The best part? The preparation options are endless – from asam manis, goreng tepung, you name it.
The sambal offerings deserve special mention. The dabu-dabu sambal is a burst of flavors, while the sambal bawang is truly maknyusss. Each bite was a symphony of tastes, creating a memorable seafood feast.

Read moreIkan Bakar Bu Bambang is one of my go-to spots when I’m in Yogyakarta and craving fresh seafood! The fish is always perfectly grilled — super tender and juicy. I really love their bumbu asin pedas, the flavor is rich, tasty, and seriously addictive.
Make sure to try it with their sambal dabu-dabu or sambal bawang — both are the perfect match for the grilled fish! I also recommend their cah kangkung, it’s flavorful and always served hot. So tempting!
If I can give one note, I personally didn’t really like dengan grilled octopus. I’ve tried it before with sauce here, and it was way better — definitely hoping they bring that version back!
Overall, always happy to come back here. Great seafood, generous portions, and that comforting local taste you...
