Went here a couple of weeks back and had a really terrible experience. Sat down to the table they gave us and there was dirty cutlery and broken glass under the table. The jug of water they gave us had a lump of clear sludge on the inside, and didn't seem to have been washed regularly. We ordered the pizza, which was worse than a frozen overcooked shop-bought pizza.. had really cheap toppings, cubes of chewy salty ham, and just didn't taste freshly made and the base was really hard. My friend ordered the chicken pesto.. it looked like roadside restaurant kid's pasta - it didn't look appetising at all and they didn't even try to make it look nice with a sprig of basil or anything. The chicken in her pasta was cheap and came in cubes, for the price of the dish you'd want freshly grilled breast of chicken and not some processed stuff out of a bag. It also came way too quickly which is always a bad sign, clearly hadn't been made to order and was probably just microwaved. We found a hair in the pizza, it had been cooked into the cheese and wasn't the same colour as our hair so we knew it wasn't ours. They took the pizza off the bill but it was all overpriced anyway and definitely wasn't worth the price. Unfortunately both myself and my partner who shared the pizza had severe food poisoning the next day, which wasn't great timing as we had 3 hours in the car back to the airport and then longer traveling back home. We also know it was from the food we had at scoozi's as it's the only food we had the same while we were in Cork. We had the brownie too (probably should've stopped at the pizza but we were with friends who had recommended the place), that wasn't heated through properly, it was warm in some parts and cold in others. I would've preferred them to have not reheated the brownie - either serve it freshly baked or as is. Really disappointed with this place and obviously won't be ever returning. There are much nicer places in Cork that have kept with the times and have a higher standard of food - go someplace else and save your money and tummies for food poisoning. Would give it no stars...
Read moreThe Scoozi restaurant first opened for business in Cork in 1993 however I never noticed it until last year but I did not get a chance to have a meal there until this week [14th. July 2016].
Some locals advised me that it was well worth a visit but that as it can be very busy I should be prepared to queue which is something that I am not willing to do. I don’t like queues in general but especially at restaurants because I feel that I am under pressure to vacate the table sooner than I would like. I like to take my time when having a meal.
I visited the restaurant because it started to rain very heavy just as I was passing by.
On entering I was greeted by a charming gentleman who offered me a choice of four different tables. I would describe the restaurant as being very busy but I did not notice any queues but customers had on arriving to wait a few minutes to be shown to a table.
The menu is designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes [young children right through to grandparents]. The staff were excellent and very helpful and, of course, friendly.
Scoozi is described by the owners as being inexpensive but I would consider the pricing as being similar to Milano which means that the bill can be on the high side if you are not careful. At least the staff do not try to up-sell.
If you are an adult seeking a ‘sense of occasion’ this may not be a suitable venue but if you want a good meal during the day or if you have children then Scoozi is a very...
Read moreMost awkward 4 cheese pizza I've ever had. I'll call it a cheese apartheid: 2 slices of feta, 2 slices of cheddar, 2 slices of gouda and 2 slices of emental. Surreal. Pasta meals served with mini potato wedges mixed within it and the sauce - not as a side dish. We do love chips, but not like that.
Friendly staff who served us courteously all the times but had to follow the house rules - they helped minimize the stress of the time to pay the bill though: we were in 25 people celebrating a birthday and we're supposed to pay in a single payment either cash or card - we could split in 2 max to be honest. Yes, the house does not split bills in individual payments for tables with 8 people or more. And yes, of course, on arrival it was not possible for them to explain it clearly to us and maybe offer alternatives: we were for sure using at least 3 mapped tables of their floor that could have been used to take the orders separately. No. The reason was that they could take half an hour collecting payments in these situations - nothing that could be related to their business model. So this is not the place for big celebrations! They possibly lost 25 customers in a single payment as well - most of us first time...
