The brrrrrrrritos of sadness ❄️
Due to the Google repute, we were compelled to give Loco a chance. We ordered a couple of burritos.
The good 👍 Very generous proportions, chock full of tender meat and fillings. The freshness of the salad additions were of high quality. Good burrito integrity, well rolled.
The not good 👎 The spicing tasted like it wasn't cooked down properly, leaving a bitter aftertaste. Maybe the spicing needs refinery or better quality spices, or maybe it's the cook method. It tasted like meat had just been cooked in a water bath and spice packet thrown in. The meat was tender sure, but not like the spices toasted, blended and simmered in delicious meat juices for hours. There was something fundamentally off and amateur about the spicing.
The burritos were cold, it felt like a salad wrap. A cardinal sin was committed of being so cold as to not melt the cheese, so with each bite was unmelted cheese. Bizarre.
We asked for ours to go in the blast oven and still came out a cold burrito. Why aren't you rolling the burritos on a hot plancha?
I feel they are aiming high, and similar to another big chain burrito joint, I've eaten there and also at plenty of actual Mexican take out and food trucks and these ⬆️ guys are severely missing the mark.
Not a resemblance to the heritage of food they are naming.
Shame on me for hoping to get a different experience and shame on Burrito Loco for dishonouring the good taste of American-Mexican food 😂.
It is clear they do care about what they are doing, alas with just some attention to details and process, it could make all the difference between "ok" and delicious. I'm puzzled why they have the rave reviews and won awards. Maybe the other offerings on the...
Read moreBurrito Loco turn off Just Eat orders quite a while before the stated closing time on Just Eat. Why not just post the ACTUAL time you close at? I was about to place an order (before the listed closing time) and then they turned it off. There’s still at least 45 minutes left until closing time, but who wants to ring/go there physically to order and have tell them everything (including ingredients) you want by voice in 2023? It would be more time efficient just to accept online orders and save customers the hassle of ordering by phone/in person. I’m not surprised another review recently mentioned that they were asked to leave EARLY. The staff here have always been lazy every time I order. A place like this doesn’t deserve any business for kicking out paying customers earlier than closing time and they should make it clear when they ACTUALLY close and when it is takeaway only. Also, every time I go to order, there haven’t been any tacos available and this has been the case for months. A Mexican restaurant/takeaway that doesn’t have tacos….really? One good point is that Burrito Loco saved me from paying for their overpriced hit or miss food tonight by closing off orders early, so I will order elsewhere, even though they are STILL open...
Read moreIf you’re from California, like me, this place is a good reminder that you are a long way from home! I ordered tacos to taste test whether or not I could bring guests from SoCal. Nope! Ordering online ensures all is cold when collected. “Crispy” tortillas are close cousins to local cinder block - same taste and texture. Just pre-formed shells, not really fresh fried crispy tortillas! Thought ordering beans with tacos would be what bean garnishment I wanted in a take away cup on the side. Nope. Layered below whatever taco meat I ordered ensured each shell disintegrated into a kind of corn meal mush before eating. Helpful, that! I wondered why they offered me a spoon-like fork. I guess, since this is a burrito place, they don’t understand a taco is something different. All nachos are bbq flavored out of a plastic bag. What’s with that?! “Salad” on tacos means green peppers. No iceberg lettuce to be seen, anywhere! For guacamole I took a “pass” fearing it would be something green from a squeeze bottle. Not that adventurous! So, you have been warned and good luck. Not for people with even basic but mildly authentic Mexican “fast food” or street eatery expectations. Pretty expensive for something to just...
