Please read through before you order. We ordered takeout food when we were visiting the North of Ireland in June, 2021. We had Lamb biriyani, Some chicken curry dishes and naan. I am an Indian and I know how biriyani tastes in different parts of India and even Ireland.
The lamb biriyani was the worst experience of a biriyani dish I have ever had in my life. My group had 3 other guys with the same choice and unfortunately the same opinion. There was no flavor, a major lack of aroma or spices necessary to bring out the flavours. The lamb was not well done, we had to chew through it, which any meat eater would consider a bad experience. Furthermore, the biriyani had chickpeas which might taste well with a veg biriyani but never ever with a lamb biriyani which in itself lacks a foundation. I have no idea how or where the resturant learned about these fictional recipes or experiments.
When I pay 12 euros for a biriyani or any dish for that matter, I expect a minimal to major return in flavour and aroma. Unfortunately, it had neither of those. The price of biriyani is almost in the top range of every major Indian restaurant in Ireland, so we can't say that its cheap. Being an Indian I can say, even a "veg pulao" cooked at home tastes better than what was served to us. My understanding is that they just mixed the same veg pulao or something similar with semi cooked cold lamb (hence the stiffness) and served it up. Sorry for the people who might have tasted this for the first time and thought it was a good dish to go for; for you have no idea what you are missing with such a dish. The two stars are given for other dishes which had at least some...
Read moreI get it that I can't expect good Indian food in Ireland and I normally avoid restaurant ran by Bangladeshi staff, mainly because they just don't stir the stir fry spices and ingredients enough. It keeps tomato and garlic row and food don't smell any spices. But my I was too hungry and this was the nearest place I could find on maps and same thing happened once again.
Red curries tested like tomato sauce and spinach for the Saag Paneer was not even blended in mixer. I never had Saag Paneer with no pieces of cottage cheese and whole leaves of spinach. 8 EUR Biryani was just a fried rice. Spent 72 euros for nothing.
Even asked the guy on the counter if you don't have your regular chef, he said its cooked by their senior chef. One might like it if he/she never had good Indian food or they don't...
Read moreAs an Indian I would appreciate if this restaurant, does what an Indian hospitality greets with to others. I went to this restaurant with my family on a Sunday lunch and we were the only one during that time who were in the restaurant. Even though we had decided our orders the servers took 15 minutes to take our orders. As if this was not enough, we were not even served with water after taking our order. We had ordered chicken Tikka bhuna and mix vegetarian with plain nan, garlic nan, Coriander nan and chapati to try out bits and pieces of every dish. The food was okiesh as it was not upto the expectations of an Indian dish or an Indian pallete. Would recommend having something ready to eat from Tesco instead of wasting money for...
