To whomever it may concern. if you are contpemplating on going to this establishment known as Friars rest I beseech you to quickly make haste from the idea. In my experience with this establishment it has been nothing but nauseating food coupled with a somewhat more sickening environment. I do not wish to disband the establishment or its workers with this review but something must be said immediately if they would be fond of common visiting. I quote the famous Gandalf from the works of J.R.R Tolkien when I hear that anyone is in this establishment "Fly you fools". Now I shall make haste onto the sustenance of this establishment. To be simply put the "Food" of Friars Rest is preposterous in every manor. To anyone from Derry reading this It was pure minging lad keep er lit. And to anyone not from Derry the vast and quite frankly indescribable nature of this food is beyond my linguistic capabilities currently and potentially ever. The "water" of Friars Rest is served in cups that appear to have been never cleaned or at least have not been perhaps since Friars Rest opened. The cutlery is riddled in finger prints and grime and potentially old saliva. They appear to have been never cleaned just like the glasses. The "Food" is repulsive especially the meat which does not appear to be cooked well. The chips are typically black in colouring and are coated in a thick layer of grease that will leave your mouth in a dusty sort of state. To conclude this review which I may continue at a later of date Friars rest is a Establishment to be avoided as of now. I give this advice not only to warn people but also to help improve Friars rest. All in all Friars rest must change with the times. It is living in the past with its decor and food. I hope that if I am ever in Friars rest again I shall see great improvement not only in the food but in the decor and atmosphere. Yours...
Read moreThis place has gone seriously down hill in recent months. While their food is still lovely their service is ridiculous. Of the past three orders I have made there have been errors, and not small ones! First my son orders chips and curry sauce and is left with a portion of sauce for his dinner, next I order a kebab and am left with a do it yourself flatbread (the salad is all placed on the side and I have to assemble it myself. But this week was the icing on the cake… my son decided to change to battered sausage and chip and I decided to stick to the kebab, despite the previous experience, my son didn’t get his order and so I was left with two teenagers sharing a portion of sausage and chips (one sausage and half a bag is not a great dinner for a teenage boy) and my kebab was literally a flatbread, some meat and a little sauce sitting in a box, they didn’t even give me the salad, on the side or anywhere else!!!!
I know I should call it quits on the place but when they get it right their food is actually really nice so I keep trying but I really think this is it for me now and that is...
Read moreOrdered from here two days in a row. The large chip, I thought, was equivalent to a regular bag in other places. But the chips the chips are good. Both occasions I had to ask for the salt and vinegar as it was neither assumed nor offered. The fish offering could be better, the online menu on just eat does not offer smoked fish,( I did not check the on site menu) the fish itself while plentyful was very oily on one side and mostly bland. A wedge of lemon included would go a long way toward correcting this. I was impressed by the burger menu, any establishment, in my book that includes an egg on burgers is doing it right. I didn't have one myself but a colleague did and said it was quite good. The curry sauce looked a bit anemic and tastes like a chicken stock is used, I'm not fond if that style myself. The staff are friendly and smiley so that goes a long way to bringing...
