We arrived 5 minutes early and we were told our table would be ready soon After 10 minutes standing outside I asked again about our table. This time we were told it would be another 30 minutes. We weren't pleased but went to the bar next door to have a drink. The waitress told us she would come and get us. The waitress did not come and get us. I went back in 30 minutes later and our table was ready. We sat there for 25 minutes with menus. No one took a drink order. We ordered our food and we waited another 10 minutes for the wine. We had, at this stage, been seated for 40 minutes. We ordered 4 bottles of the same wine. I was allowed to taste the first one, but when the waitress uncorked the second bottle she just poured it. It was a completely different vintage and was not at all similar. The waitress did not inform us of this. When this was raised with the waitress she insisted it was the same vintage. I asked her to check the label and there was 3 years between each bottle. The waitress then just walked off. There was no apology and she was quite rude. My starter arrived then. 4 measly pieces of calamari. Total rip off! At no stage up to this point did anyone come to check on the table. Another member of our party and I ordered a seafood risotto for our main course . It was absolutely disgusting. I can only describe it as tasting like some boil in the bag rice served with some over cooked pieces of non-descript, bland white fish. We both sent it back and the waitress did not look surprised. I ordered the seafood linguine to replace it and the other risotto "victim" ordered a pizza. The waitress then came back and told us the kitchen had completely run out of seafood... That explains the pathetic fish in the risotto.... I then ordered a Creamy chicken dish. It was also very bad but at this stage it was quarter to 11 at night and I hadn't eaten since lunch. I got through half of it and then I started to feel unwell. The crust on the pizzas that others had ordered was inedible. It was definitely not pizza dough. The tomato and Buffalo mozarella Salad ordered was pathetic. Cherry tomatoes and tiny pieces of mozarella served with lots of salad leaves. The rest of the food was mediocre to say the most. A member of our party spoke to the manager and very politely gave her feedback on our disasterous meal. She did not seem too interested in trying to rectify the situation but did explain that they were short staffed in the kitchen, that she had been working in there all evening and was unaware there was a problem with the table...this suggests, however, that she was happy to send out awful food with key ingredients missing. They did not charge us for the risottos or the awful bottle of wine but I felt they should have done more. The way the whole thing was handled was extremely poor. I had enjoyed a meal here with friends during the summer and I had recommended the restaurant. I am extremely embarrassed that my party had to endure and pay for such an awful experience. Avoid this place like the plague on busy weekends. It really was, hands down, without a doubt., the worst meal I've ever had in...
Read moreReally lovely dining experience this evening for our neurodiverse party of 4. We booked to be sure of getting a Saturday evening table. Customer service is excellent, friendly and attentive, the food was really beautiful - I ordered my main from the specials, and although what I picked was in fact a starter, the waiter kindly offered to make it as a main with pasta, and it was exquisite - Clew Bay mussels with chorizo in a white wine sauce - the sauce was light but intense, and I loved every bite. Beautifully seasoned, and a good-sized portions. Everyone else was just as happy with their starters and mains, and we found the whole thing to be one of the best priced dinners in Westport. Small but super-clean bathrooms, excellent service, in a quiet and atmospheric place. We have neurodiversity in our family, so often ‘normal’ music levels can cause difficulties, and we take earplugs with us for those who need them. But Giovanna’s music levels were just right, not too quiet and not too loud, and it added very much to what felt like a genuine Italian restaurant. We hadn’t time to order desserts or coffees but we will be back. Highly recommend to families, couples, and solo travellers and...
Read more2.5/5. We were looking forward to eating here after reading great reviews but unfortunately it wasn't a good experience for us. The restaurant wasn't very busy but there was a table of six ladies near us who were so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. Service was slow but Lachlan did look after us well. There was a table next to us that was left uncleared for the whole evening. We had a prawn starter to share which was good. My husband had steak and veg which he was happy with. I ordered Carticco - seafood pasta. The seafood was ok although I didn't eat a few mussels because they weren't fully open. But the pasta was too thick and heavy. I make far nicer pasta at home all the time. I left most of it. Disappointing for our last night in Westport. Lachlan took it off the bill which we appreciate. I was going to try a dessert but...
