Update September 2023: Ate here twice over the year since my previous review and have to report that standards have slipped dramatically. On our last visit they had run out of the slaw filling for their pitta chicken. No alternative. My wife asked them to put lettuce, mayo and sundried tomatoes in my pitta and the guy didn’t want to until she insisted. She then asked for a pint of milk for me and was told they don’t do it. My wife asked incredulously what about milk for tea? To which the smart arse server answered sarcastically we don’t do tea and never have. Such a big lie! Nando’s have always done both glasses of milk and tea going back years. I really don’t know what this guys problem was this particular day. His service was poor. Ultimately, we decided we won’t be back to Nando’s Dundrum after this experience. We were on the fence after our previous visit but this one made up our minds. We really won’t miss it such is the dramatic fall off in service and selection. Disappointing really. Food and service is excellent here. I have visited a few times whilst over this side of Dublin. In fact, I would go out of my way to eat here. Food is consistently good. Restaurant is smaller than I expected and tables are tightly packed but not uncomfortably so. However the entrance can be crowded at times and is tight for space. One child’s buggy can block everything so be mindful if you have a buggy and/or wheelchair/scooter. It will be a very tight squeeze. Staff have been good in dealing with this however. Only downside here (minus one star) is the gents toilet! The urinal is so close to the door of the cubicle that someone wishing to exit the cubicle must wait for the urinal user to finish. It is an unbelievable situation! Uncomfortable for everyone concerned. Can’t comment on...
Read moreWent there for Saturday dinner and didn’t take us much time to be seated, maybe due to the weather it was less busy. The staff was polite and made us understand the self ordering and other modus operandi. They had only one OG vegetarian burger - Beanie burger which when we tried to order was out of stock so then I had to settle for the Mushroom and Halloumi pita style burger. Was a bit disappointed not getting the OG Beanie burger on a peak weekend dinner time. We ordered the burger with 2 sides of potato peri peri fries and garlic bread. Also ordered a strawberry and passion fruit mocktail which was citrusy and packed with flavor. Overall the food was tasty and flavourful with an assortment of sauces which were hot and spicy! My friend went for their Chicken Sunset burger and loved the taste but thought the portion sizes could be better for the value. The atmosphere was good, staff was lovely and friendly (apologised twice for out of stock Beanie burger) which made the experience better. Would definitely go again to try a few of their OGs and they could definitely give more sides with the burger for...
Read moreThere's a reason why I haven't been in years and I will never go again. Truly awful experience - from the moment you arrive you make your way to the table but have to go up to the counter to order the food yourself. You have to fetch your own cutlery and your own drinks. The drinks wouldn't be so bad if they were reasonably valued or included in any meal deals - but of course, they're not. You're paying €54 to feed two adults and two kids without a drink.
The most overpriced and underwhelming food. Horrible value for money. The stingiest portion of chips I think I have ever received whilst eating out, ever. The 4 boneless pieces of chicken thighs are like a starter portion and that's being generous.
They don't even apply the seasoning or toss the chips in it, just lump a huge amount of it on one or two or three chips. There you go, toss it yourself - we're not arsed.
The lack of effort or energy is amazing.
Mad egg is superior in every aspect. A few doors down. Avoid Nandos...
