We booked this restaurant 3 weeks in advance and at that time were advised that if we were 15 minutes late, our table would be given away. With this in mind we arrived 10 minutes before our booking time only to be bluntly told "it's not 7:30 yet, come back at 7:30". This seemed odd but was understandable for such a popular restaurant.
We returned at the correct time only to be told that our table still wasn't ready, again- fair enough. It was 7:45 before our table was ready. Again, this was excusable, although we were confused as to the lack of any sort of apology or effort to ameliorate the situation by way of asking our party if we wanted a drink while waiting.
Usually we would have left at this point. I actually made a reservation for another restaurant during our wait simply due to the lack of attentiveness on the part of the staff. However it was my Mother's choice for her birthday meal and she wanted to stay, having heard great things about the restaurant.
Once the table was ready we were again confused as to the fact that the front of house staff needed our prompting for everything including; that our party would like to order drinks.
The starters arrived and despite asking who ordered what, the waitress simply ignored our answers and placed the dishes in the wrong places. This was hilarious and almost made up for some of the previous poor customer service we had received up until this point. Almost.
We asked for salt and later asked for chilli oil which all the other tables had been furnished with. Both items were simply grabbed, without consultation, from the couple who were sitting beside us. The couple seemed much less impressed with this than we were. When asked for chilli oil the waitress rudely stated "s'on the table". It wasn't.
The kicker was this: I hate reading online reviews which seem to have been written by picky people with too much on their hands but at no stage were we asked by staff if our meal was ok or if we needed anything. I would have preferred to raise these issues face to face and avoid leaving a negative comment online.
The food was top-class, piping hot and the ingredients were fresh. The experience really was tainted by the lack of any basic skill or even manners on the part of the waitress.
Having read other reviews it seems we got really unlucky with the waiting staff this evening. Perhaps our waitress was new? She was the woman with the shaved head and dyed pony tail.
I would eat from here again but never at the restaurant. They offer a takeaway service which looked to be exceptionally popular. In summation- food great,...
Read moreBeen here the first restaurant of the day in the bank Holliday weekend. we reserved a table by phone only English speaking. Got in we were let to choose a table free. We were taken the order and I have ordered the latte macchiato before I have asked do you have? The answer was sure. they bring an expresso. Got it and I look t the lady but she sends a different Staff member which was rude said this your order and this we have only from the menu! It at even the case I came to feel good not to see and have argued from a coffee, I didn't even get to say anything. Onestly I will never recommend this place to anyone. I haven't stayed anything I give back the expresso as I didn't order it, had the food which was too greasy I cancel deserts and I left. And the first staff which could say to me that I have ordered expresso and send the other girl to cause a big trouble which wasn't the case. I came peacefully and to enjoy my self but I couldn't, was keep coming to ask me it is all ok? Seriously? Food that I had wasn't great and the restaurant is very small and had a mosquito fly on the window I have tried to picture it but wasn't visible in the picture. I hate to have a bad...
