I had a terrible experience today in Daddy’s. I popped in to pick up some sandwiches before getting a train, I got there at 11.55 and ordered two sandwiches. I needed to run across the road and I said I’d be back in a few minutes. When I returned I paid (and left a tip) and was asked to re-confirm my order. I asked whether my sandwiches had already been wrapped, and if not, could they split them (i.e half chicken/ half special in each container), explaining that I was getting a train and my husband wasn’t and we wanted to share. The staff member said that was fine.
At 12.22, the person, who appeared to be the manager (given his general demeanor of correcting staff while I was standing there), came to the counter and said they couldn’t spilt the sandwiches because of allergens, I said that was fine. I asked if it was going to be much longer as I was under pressure for time, he said my sandwiches had been dropped on the ground and were being re-made. At this point I had been waiting close to 30 mins for my take-away order, and understandably I was pretty frustrated. I said if it was going to take as long again to remake them that I wouldn’t be able to wait. I noted I had been waiting 20 mins (but in fact it was closer to 30) and it was a long time to wait. The manager told me it was standard waiting time for take-away sandwiches, and in an extremely condescending tone told me I wasn’t the only customer there and that the kitchen had a full restaurant to serve. I said that it wasn’t standard for take-away sandwiches to take so long. I then had a look into the restaurant, it was not busy and while I was standing in the take-away area no one else came in until I was leaving. He offered absolutely no apology, and I was spoken to in a condescending and aggressive tone.
When I was finally given my sandwiches, there was no apology given for the wait, the manager then followed me out of the shop onto the pavement and down the street telling me that it was standard waiting time and telling me I was rude. I found this to be incredibly intimidating and quite frankly, unacceptable behavior.
Had he simply said, "I am really sorry, you have been waiting a long time and we are working to get you your order as soon as we can" that would have been totally fine.
I don't leave bad reviews, but I can’t let this lie. All other staff members were so nice, especially the girl, who was so lovely to me. The sandwiches were good, however not good enough for a 30min wait and certainly not good enough to endure...
Read moreGenuinely so disappointed with the experience here, ordered daddys big breakfast which comes in at a whopping 16 quid I thought this is going to be good for the money.
It's a glorified over priced greasy spoon is putting it lightly, portion sizes are genuinely tiny for such a big name , 2 burnt sausages, ONE egg! ONE rasher! Black and white pudding, small portobello mushroom and 3 slices of toast? 16 quid? Owners have lost there mind, there not in the centre of town they are in rialto. They were top of alot of pages brunch spot it genuinely has to be paid ads there is no way they are even close to top brunch spot in in dublin wouldn't even be in my top 50. The price has genuinely baffled me for the portion size.
Coffees were also cold they were left sitting there for close to 10.minutes I seen them when I went out for a smoke and when I came back it was another 5 minutes.
Staff were lovely which saved this from a 1 star review so so disappointing foodwise
Answer to reply : I'm not looking for a review of my review unfortunately
Again your far too high priced for what your offering, the produce you use doesn't come into question the way it was presented was, burnt sausages never a good look if your trying to show off what you have to offer Tryy some of the cafes even within a 7k radius it just doesn't stack up quality wise or value for money. Again it just felt like a glorified fry from a greasy spoon if that's what your going for ok that's fine but reduce the price then. I don't want compensation i have no problem paying for stuff that is worth it that's not the issue, the issue is the presentation of quality produce and amount that comes for the price tag, 1 egg and 1 rasher is nuts for 16 quid with 3 slices of bread? Reduce the bread, add 1 egg, 1 rasher cost you 80 cent max would still be more expensive the 90 percent of cafes but I would have never batted an eye lid i understand times are tough with price hikes etc but I genuinely came out feeling I was mugged off and that's what...
Read moreI was so disappointed with my recent experience here (a brunch around 12pm) and I’m sorry to be writing this review as I’m local. But there really was a litany of issues, and I want the place to improve.
Firstly, there’s a sign in Daddy’s saying ‘wait here to be seated’. I waited, but was not so much as greeted. Eventually after asking, I was told to go into the other area. Again I was ignored. Finally we got a table and menus, but after being ignored again I had to approach a staff member to ask could I order (this was after being seated got 5-10 minutes). My coffee took 25 minutes to arrive (not an exaggeration), and the people who came after us got theirs first. The food also came after the people who arrived after us got theirs - a full 45-50 minutes after sitting down. Again I had to enquire, and only after doing so was our order brought out. What was more frustrating is that I repeatedly saw the servers chatting amongst themselves as if they had nothing to do.
As for the food, it was beyond mediocre. One slice of bread with soggy spinach, an undercooked and tasteless mushroom, bland poached eggs and a leaves without dressing - for €16 euro! Madness.
All this despite having let our server know the person I was dining with was hard of hearing. They also very clearly have lost their hair recently, indicating cancer treatment. I expected better.
I’m sorry to say I...
