Popped in for a quick lunch. They required the covid cert to sit down and eat in the lounge. I looked at the menu and thought the cheese and ham on sourdough bread toasted would be good. It was €6.50, so I ordered that and a cappuccino first. It arrived and straightaway I noticed it was ordinary sliced pan, but very small slices, they came back and asked is everything ok, I mentioned the sliced bread instead of sourdough as featured on the menu. They disappeared and didn’t come back. I then ordered the lemon drizzle cake. I think it was about €4 or €4.50. I couldn’t get a bill to pay, they kept saying the bar and food was separate….so they eventually wrote one out by hand , sure that was fine, I just wanted to see what I was paying for.    Read moreBird Flanagan is a bit old fashioned in a sort of 1970's Coronation Street Rovers Return way, and that is its great charm, not pretentious, and mercifully not ruined like so many places by over modernisation. Instead it feels lived in, full of genuine people, characters and regulars, the atmosphere extremely friendly and the staff attentive and we welcoming including table service. TV screens also to watch the match in comfort if you want. Only downside, and it's a glaring one - there is no food menu, even for lunch time. While the absence of the increasingly high priced "restaurant standard" food menus of so many pubs is very much to be welcomed, at the same time an offering of modest, unassuming old fashioned pub grub would be hugely popular, and exactly what this pub needs.    Read moreThis is what happens offen when I arrive I order a pint of Guinness as I pass by the bar they tell me to sit and I sit at the terrace smoking area.,and they bring the Guiness to me ,I pay with a tip,then I when I drank half I expect to order another one and no waiter comes to check to see if i need another Guinness, then I have to leave the pub,disappointed with this situation a few times, only one blonde waitress was the only one that was checking the terrace and I finally got a second pint after months I went there.
