Great food, abysmal service. Myself and my boyfriend visited La Bodega for dinner. Our food was fantastic. However our service was not. Our water glasses were not refilled once dying our visit. After placing our orders we did not see our waitress for over an hour. We were left with dirty plates for at least 20 minutes and were left waiting another 25 to order dessert which we had to do by checking the dessert offering on the website as nobody came near us to ask if we wanted to see the menu. This is despite the fact that the waitress who had taken our dinner order was in the dining room and we had gotten her attention twice which she acknowledged but still never bothered to actually stop by our table. We eventually received our dessert from another member of staff. I tried to complain about our absent waitress to the manager on duty but he was more interested in talking over me while I tried to explain what had happened. He was kind enough to eventually take our wine and dessert off our bill, but I'm afraid the long wait and rude staff still put a dampener on the evening. The place appears to fall apart as soon as the owner leaves for the evening. Would not go back as there are many other tapas restaurants in Dublin with equally good food and much...
Read moreWe visited La Bodega Tapas last weekend as we have done on numerous occasions. This is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Dublin. The service is outstanding as the staff are very helpful, friendly, and polite, and we are always served with a smile. The menu is varied with many options of hot and cold tapas to suit everyone's apatite. The quality of the food is excellent, and we have never been disappointed with any of the food we have been served over the last 2 years. The prices on the wine are by far one of the best in the area and the quality of the cocktails is first class and I would strongly recommend the margarita. The place has a lovely atmosphere, is well furnished, warm and is perfect for any occasion. On every occasion during our visit, the owner always takes time out to ensure everything is fine. This is by far our favourite place for an evening out in Dublin, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this place for a...
Read moreLovely decor but it stops there. Food was mediocre at best. Tasteless to be honest. Had calamari which you could only taste the coating, which tasted like flour and really wasn’t crispy. The buratta was rather tasteless. The prawn pil pil was lovely. Then the mains arrived. I had fish and chips. One would wonder where you could go wrong but sure enough the fish has so many bones, it was inedible. I have never had fish and chips where I had to pick out so many bones! And the pea and mint side was cold, which we were told was the way the chef served it (not pleasant). The biggest issue we had was the service. Our starters arrived promptly but then it took over an hour for our mains to arrive. We asked for them at least 3 times only to be told they were on the way. Eventually we were about to leave and they arrived. The waitresses were very friendly but unfortunately we won’t be back. They did take the fish and chips...
