I have been always looking for a good thai restaurant that would serve good drinks. But it seems that I can always get either or. Nightmarket was unfortunately no exception. Let’s start with the environment. I made a reservation for the tunnel room. When I arrived I was offered a table outside by a pile of boxes. Upon requesting a different table, I was sat in proper tunnel room. That was great. I must say the restaurant ambience is nice, most table are good and it looks great, except for the table I was offered initially. Now the drinks. They have excellent drinks. I was very pleased. I just think they could have been faster. It took a long time to get drinks for a small place. The food presentation was great but I thought the flavor wasn’t there. I had a Tom Kha Gai soup and it was great. The pork skewers are fantastic. Then I had the Miang Kham and it was disappointing. It was a very dry dish. Well presented but very dry and not to my taste. Then we had the pad thai, the mango salad and the papaya salad. The mango salad was great but the fried crab that comes with it was over fried and tasteless. We could not eat it at all. The pad thai was not bad but it was missing something. It wasn’t the best but again, I was disappointed with the flavors. The papaya salad was tasteless and probably the worst I ever had. I love papaya salads and usually I ask it to be made mild so that I enjoy the flavors. Unfortunately, the flavors were not there. It was like it was missing something. Again the same pattern. Since the experience was not that great, we decided to skip desert. In conclusion, I believe they need to speed up the drinks and enhance the food flavors. Everything else was great. This place has the potential to be the best in town. Just...
Read moreCame in last evening, with high expectations. Both myself and my sister are big into authentic Thai and had heard good things. Our table was booked for 6.30pm. We ordered and shared 6 oysters as a snack, but decided to just get two mains between us. 8pm - 8pm is when we finally ate. The restaurant wasn’t busy at this point, the servers seemed to be messing up a lot of the orders by table awaying guests that hadn’t even finished starters. No one came to check on us but we could hear them saying to each other that our table still had yet to receive their food. No one came over to apologise or explain. When the food finally arrived, my sisters dish was served first and then mine eventually came, but was not with the rice that we ordered. So waited another 5/10 mins for the rice to come, whilst my dish sat there getting cold. Food is good. No doubt about it. We had the Yuu Taley warm salad and the fillet beef Phad Krapao, which by the way, is so unnecessarily spicy (we are well aware it’s a spicy dish but this was nearing inedible) would have been good if they had advised this at the beginning to us. When the server finally came with the water we requested, I mentioned it was really hot and she responded ‘yeah it burns the mouth off you’ Overall - would I be back? Certainly not in the near future, especially if you are hungry. Food is excellent, no doubt about it. But the service seriously needs work. Two mains, 6 oysters and water €90. Expensive. Really disappointed to...
Read moreGreat Food and Service, but Awkward Moment with the Owner… Special shout out to Jay who really made the night for my friends and I. He was really patient with explaining the menu, and very accommodating which really made up for the night. Unfortunately, as we entered the restaurant we were closely followed by the owner. It was unnecessary. He had noticed we were holding a cake as it was a birthday celebration before going upstairs, so he let us know that cakes are not allowed in the restaurant but the first time he said it was enough. I acknowledged him and ensured him that I will not be using the cake. Then he closely followed us up the stairs, as if we didn’t hear him the first time and was almost making an announcement about cakes not being allowed in the restaurant. It felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, as we had already acknowledged his request and Jay ended up telling us anyway. It kind of made the start of night very awkward and my friends and I were uncomfortable. I believe the owner could benefit from a more thoughtful approach to communicating with customers, as his method felt a bit intimidating. That being said, the food was a new experience for a lot of us and we enjoyed it. The menu is obviously well thought out and as a vegan, I truly appreciate the thought into the vegan menu. Once again, Jay was very pleasant and very attentive. I had spoken to him twice on the phone before booking, and his professionalism...
