Had been wanting to try Taphouse for a long time and was sad to find it disappointing. The food was delicious but the service and atmosphere were not great. We were seated out on the rooftop terrace which was lovely but it was extremely busy and the tables were all crammed in very close so it meant it was quite claustrophobic and loud. The service was the real problem though. They were clearly understaffed but considering it was the night of the Europa League final, it was poor planning not having more staff on duty because it was clearly going to be a busy night. For most of the time we were there, there was only one server seeming to be working the whole terrace (a second one joined a while later) and our table was completely overlooked for most of the night. Trying to get anyone's attention was a challenge and we had to ask for water 6 times before getting some. We also asked for salt 5 times and still didn't get any...we gave up in the end because our fries were just getting cold at stage so there was no point in waiting. We left as soon as we were finished our food because the service was so off-putting. It's a lovely pub and it's a real shame the experience was...

As a pub, it's a great spot. Nice and big, with a little beer garden on top that you might miss if you only pop in for a pint. They also have some lovely cocktails that, although a bit in the pricier end, are absolutely delicious. Their Serving Kettle vodka is absolutely perfect and good value for two people and me and my partner often order it. Nice and refreshing, particularly on a warm Summer's day.

What really makes this place great, however, is the food. You wouldn't expect a pub to have such great food, and you would be forgiven for thinking that this was just pub grub with notions if you looked at the menu. But I must say, I've had almost everything on the menu and am always blown away.

I would highly recommend the 3 for €10 sliders. Its a great deal for a light lunch or dinner packed full of flavour. There's a similar deal for soft shell tacos if you want something with more zing. The salads are also wonderful, which is not something I ever expected to say about a pub.

All in all this is one of the best pubs in Dublin, and this is coming from a man who has drank and eaten in many...

I went into taphouse with my friend that had recently retired, we sat out on the terrace and used the robot scanner to order food and a pint. As soon as we ordered an angry waiter came in and asked us rudely to move downstairs since there was a booking there (this was not indicated on the table). We said yes no problem but we politely asked what about our food we just ordered, he screamed at us and said our food would be out soon and stormed off.

After my friend stopped crying, the food was brought out but we didn't receive our pints, we tentatively flagged down a waiter and asked if they forgot about them (we thought this was resonable since our food had been delivered and half eaten at this point) the human waiter snapped at us and said I'm sure they are on its way and stormed off.

My friend started crying again and actually collapsed since he hadn't drank any liquid in 3 days since he was on a clense. The waiter rushed over and dragged him inside. Overall bad experience.

Would give zero stars if i could, do...

I recently had a disappointing experience at The Taphouse. The staff informed us that we needed to leave our table, even though we hadn’t finished our meals or drinks. When we asked if it was possible to move to another area of the pub, we were told there was no space available. However, as we were leaving, another staff member mentioned that there actually was space upstairs, which made the situation feel quite disorganized. We felt rushed to finish our food, and I ended up having to finish my drink standing up, which was uncomfortable and unexpected. It was unfortunate, as the atmosphere and menu had potential, but the service felt unprofessional and not very considerate. I hope this was just an isolated situation, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending it.

We were greeted warmly and brought straight to our table in the heated outdoor terrace - which by the way, was so cute and well decorated. The first thing that struck me was the staff had a citronella candle AND a bottle of sun cream on each table - honestly it’s the little things. We ordered a bunch of food; tacos, loaded waffle fries, BBQ cauliflower wings, chicken wings and a burger. The tacos were the STAR of the show - bursting with flavour, fresh ingredients and well balanced. No complaints as such, but some of the cauliflower wings were a little raw because some were so big, but when I mentioned it they were apologetic and relayed the feedback to the chef. Staff were lovely and attentive! Would definitely visit again!

Our go-to pub in Ranelagh. Pretty interior. Cozy atmosphere. Ample seating. Great stuff. They have outdoor seating in the terrace. Good for summer time. Indoor seating is available in both ground and first floor. Tapas food available. We love the nachos there. Also a bookshelf available behind the couches and you can always grab a book if you would like. Gets pretty crowded during busy days. Great place to hang out.
