Have used this shop for quite a while and its very good. Have noticed prices increasing a lot though. My main gripe is that the shop definitely has a lot of vegetarian-vegan customers like myself but no effort has been made to source affordable basics like reasonably priced Tofu and Mushrooms when plenty of options exist. There are many good mushroom suppliers like Ashford Mushrooms, the Mushroom butcher that supply other shops at half the price (evergreen) but they choose Garryhinch mushrooms, the most expensive supplier in Ireland pricing their king oysters at 45 euro a kilo and many others like Lions Mane at the 50 euro mark a kilo. Compare this to Asian shops selling polish grey oysters at 16 euro a kilo and the same for shitakes. Shitakes here in Noms are double the price. As a mushroom expert I can tell you that unlike vegetables there's no difference where a mushroom is grown. In Italy its 4 euro a kilo for oyster mushrooms in the supermarkets and Italian king oysters (cardoncello mushrooms) 5 euro a kilo. Most of the Tofu here is double the price of similar ones in Fresh supermarket and 4 times the price of Lidl Organic Tofu. These places understand that basic items get people in the door and then they'll spend more on other impulse items they see. Its about time we stop ripping people...
Read moreThis is great shop that allows you reduce the amount of packaging you use by selling a good range of produce loose. You bring your own container, fill it up, and pay by weight. For example, I often pop in with a clean jar and fill it with rice, or take my old washing up bottles and get them filled with fresh washing up liquid. Not only does this use less packing, but you can reduce waste and cost also, buy only buying exactly what you need. If a recipe calls for an obscure spice you rarely use, you can just buy a small amount here rather than a whole jar from the supermarket, most of which would go to waste. The products are good quality and reasonably priced. You do have to pay a bit more per kg than Tesco, but often you can save money buy not buying more than you need. Also, the prices are good value for organic produce. Staff are very friendly...
Read more“I recently visited this organic store and, while it’s well-stocked with a wide range of quality products, I was taken aback by the rude and unprofessional behavior of the young Irish cashier. Her unfriendly, almost angry attitude left a bad impression, especially considering the premium prices in the store. When you’re paying extra for quality, you also expect a welcoming and positive customer experience.
On the plus side, the other staff members were helpful and pleasant, which was appreciated. However, the cashier’s attitude really affected the overall experience. A friendly smile and respectful service should be standard – especially in a place that prides itself...
