Quaintly atmospheric little spot that is ill-equiped and blatantly incapable of handling its own flow of business. Walk-ins only and a good name cause average cues of 30 minutes. The location being remote enough, it's still less time than you'd probably employ to leave, identify another place to eat and get there. So you stay. We actually had one of our initial party of three run ahead 15 minutes in advance to get a table. While she announced that it was going to be a party of three, we found her seated on one (of three) horrid and horrifically uncomfortable stools, at one of those ordinary tables for two where two barely fit and three most definitely do not. We order coffee. In the first few minutes we receive an unsolicited call from a friend, coincidentally in our proximities and decide to invite him over, cramped as is, hoping that the "more the merrier" saying actually turns out to be true. He joins us just as another such table right next to us is being freed but we're good people so we grab a stool left abandoned in the corner behind us and sit it on the only side of our own table left. We spot a round of cappuccinos headed our way when the manager abruptly interrupts their journey and even less pleasantly tells us that the arrangement , despite our care not to ruin anyone's brunch but our own, was not acceptable that if we decided to remain a group of four we would have to vacate and wait for an appropriately sized table (a consideration I believe should have been done at the mention of three) and so were proposed to take our coffees either standing behind the bar or until further seated.
That said, there is delicious coffee and the food is better than in most places. Three stars for the culinary effort, although considering this is far from a Michelin star or any similar recognitio, more than just a few lessons in customer service...
Read moreI have been coming to Two Boys Brew for years and never had an issue till today. I have dietary sensitivities to spices. I made the waiter aware but, it felt like I was being dismissed and told the substitution would take away from the dish. I merely asked to have the avocado toast without hot sauce and if the pepita crunch was spicy. I tend to also prefer my avocado toast or dishes without eggs. These are reasonable questions and it is not appropriate to make someone feel bad for their dietary sensitivity.
I have always had the avocado toast here beforehand without hot sauce without issues. There was a particular day I remember they had added extra shoots/salad mix over my avocado toast which was a nice gesture.
Today, I was told it would be best to stick with plain toast and sides of hummus, avocado and halloumi. I insisted I would be ok with the avocado toast without hot sauce or mushroom toast without salsa Verde but kept being dismissed and was told there were too many changes and would be better if I ordered the side dishes. I was made to feel like I did not have a choice but to order the side dishes.
People with dietary sensitivities still deserve to have food well presented and not made to feel that they are being too difficult. For the price paid, I expected to still have a nice presentation of my food. I received 2 small metal containers where you would place dipping sauces containing avocado and hummus to spread on toast for the same cost as a proper main. Please work on your inclusivity...
Read moreHad a lovely Saturday brunch with the Mrs. Food was amazing. We had the mushroom toast and the avo toast. I had the avo toast but was forced to switch to the mushroom toast as the Mrs likes the avo toast. I do not mind as both of them were delicious. Had their own unique flavour. The presentation was top notch as if we are dining in a Michelin star restaurant. Luckily we do not have to wait long as there was an empty seat when we arrived. However it was packed. Eventhough it was packed but I did not noticed there was any long queue. I think this is because the service was quick. We got our food after around 10 minutes. The coffee to me was great as well but a bit overpriced. Overall the price is on the pricey side but was worth it. Staff was friendly and accomodating as well. Would definitely try again. Will try their hotcakes and chilli eggs next time so stay tune. Would highly recommend this place for brunch. Also to note the Mrs like the matcha latte which she ordered. She said: "the best matcha latte...
