Dine in on occasion and order takeaways from here quite often and the food is always good and the service has never been an issue but yesterday for St stephens day the service was terrible. We asked to sit somewhere warm away from the door but the place was freezing. No internal heating, instead they had heaters that they constantly push around the restaurant, sounds like a shopping trolly being dragged around, the noise of them and they were constantly in the way of people walking by. Everyone around us looked miserable and you could tell it was mainly because of the level of service. A table of 4 ladies were seated without menus and they had to ask for them and the couple across from us had empty plates stacked up and the 3 staff that were working were just walking by. There was 4 tables about 10 of us in the restaurant and when the food arrived after God knows how long they only brought my food. I told the waitress and she didn't seem bothered by it, she said "they are still making it." Why would you serve food to one person but have the other sitting with nothing? That takes away the whole experience/idea of dining in a restaurant to eat with someone else. She just walked off after, even while I was in the middle of talking. After waiting 10 more minutes and no sign of the rest of our food I had to go up to the man at the bar and ask what's going on, one of us has food and the other doesn't and it was about 1 hour or more after we arrived and ordered. They brought some of our food minutes later but not all of it, the soup that we ordered which was a starter, we had to tell the waitress at the time who was serving us for the third time what we ordered. It wasn't even busy, they just didn't care. If you aren't going to care for your customers and put some effort in to provide good service then don't have customers sit in. And can you believe it, €6 for a bottle of water, absolutely ridiculous! I give 2 stars only because the food was nice but overall very very disappointed, we won't be returning...
Read moreRegarding delivery they need to change their packing boxes as they are too small for larger sushi (which I'll cover later) as the food gets smashed under the weight. Stacking boxes appropriately could help but also using bags with more than 1mm difference between the size of the food boxes could alleviate that issue. Portion size for special rolls are too large even by Japanese standards. Im a rugby player, 6'2 and 280 and my mouth cant get around the Sushi, its simply too large and misplaced in Japanese culture which the restaurant should reflect. Sushi isn't cheap outside Japan so I get it, the public want more for their money but thats not how it works. This also causes problems for delivery and takeaway as the food gets smashed under the boxes as its too heavy. Special rolls should be easily 4mm less in diameter. Inside, aside from portion size for special rolls aforementioned, is brilliant. No rush, calm atmosphere, nice staff, however some could brush up on basic Japanese food names, is a good place to...
Read moreDingy dark cold no ambience "restaurant" with staff that take up to 15 minutes to bring a coffee. Be wary even when you sit down and ask for a two course meal for €24 your server may claim (as gen z often do) that "oops I didn't notice that bit" that they've so many caveats she could only recall the one about Japanese food not being included which benefitted my friend...my friend was charged 24 euro, I was charged €32. Then of course we failed to realise a soft drink could be classed as a "third course" our asking to have coffee instead prompted a great deal of being charged €3.75 for the coffee instead of €29 for having a coffee as a course. Overall our meal was €62 not €48. Fine if explained and I hadn't said "I'm having the two course meal" several times..why tell my friend but not me what was included. There's so many great options in the village. The outside is an embarrassment on the mainstreet it looks so bad. It was a great spot before panda took over really shoddy behaviour by the...
