We came specially from Dublin to have some grilled goods, and were bitterly disappointed. My vegetarian friend ordered the mixed vegetarian and was the luckiest since her meal was mediocre but edible. So the best meal in a grillhouse was the veg option :) My friend ordered the mixed grill, the chicken was burned and dry, the kofta was dry but edible, and the steak was OK.
I was craving lamb chops for a while now, so ordered them. They arrived scorched black, literally covered in a black layer of burned meat. Let me remind you that the black scorched part is non edible and not healthy to eat, and that even the most amateur grill man should know not to grill the meat in the flames (which will scorch it), but on the heat emmited from the hot coals. So a grill house with a grill man who didn’t know how to grill the chops I ordered? I guess so, in my opinion.
I sincerely tried to eat one because I'm a sucker, it was of course bitter and not edible, so I did what I rarely do in restsurants, and returned it. The waiter wasn't very happy about it and acted as if I was returning a perfectly good meal and offered that "if the grill is not to my liking", he would offer a lamb Shawarma, which is fried and not grilled.
The Shawarma was nice, and the salad was good, the waiter brought it with a passive-aggressive apology: "we are sorry the grilled chops weren't to your liking" - it's not about liking, man, it's about knowing how to grill rather than scorch. At the end of the meal the waiter brought the bill and proudly announced that they didn't bill me for the lamb. They did bill me for...
Read moreI along with my friend went to this place hoping it was as good as we ordered a takeaway before. But to our fate the food was horrible. The guys don't serve things that they have for takeaway. We ordered crispy chicken wings ,but when served they were no where crispy but kind of barbequed , but this doesn't end here the chicken wings were like they were frozen and the microwave it . We also ordered falafel which were pretty much good which hyped us that the next thing we ordered will be good .We ordered doner kebabs which were available only at takeaway. But the owner still agree to serve it . That was the first time in 4 yrs we felt we made a mistake ordering food in Dublin, rhe kebabs were same microwaved and made just available for us ,they were so dry they would choke us to death . The food was so bad we could barely feat couple of bites. The food came around 50€ but the experience was nauseating. The point however here is if the owner felt we were too late at the restaurant he could have denied it but he probably saw profit over food quality. Never going to this place as the experience...
Read moreWe visited the Grill House for a family birthday celebration last Friday night. It was our second time visiting. I can’t say enough good things about this place. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the restaurant when we arrived. The food was very good. For starters, we shared - the Calamari was very tender, & the Kebbeh was delicious, best Hummus I’ve had & the Haloumi was delicious. For mains we shared the Seafood Platter & the Mixed Grill which were absolutely delicious. The coffees were delicious with out desserts. Overall, the Grill House was a lovely experience, the portions were very generous, it was very good value for money, the service was very good (the BYOB was handled seamlessly by the staff) & Makarem is a great host. I can understand why it’s the best reviewed place to eat in Swords. We will...
