While in Limerick for but an instant I had the good fortune to experience not just a sun soaked afternoon, but also a pleasant summer shower. I regard this summer shower as fortunate because it happened upon me almost immediately after turning down Reidy Park as my eyes fixated on the Curragower’s exterior and beckoning facade. And as such, it occurred me that there was no finer a time to have a pint and wait out the rain.

As the expression goes “if these walks could talk…” then I dare say the Curragower might easily star as the narrator of many an enthralling tale, because as soon as I took a seat and settled in, the individual charms and nuances became readily apparent.

First and foremost, the interior is essentially half traditional bar & dining space, comprised of numerous individual seating areas that provide privacy, yet also are arranged in such a way as to create an immersive atmosphere. In other words, one can relax by the fireplace, gaze out a large bay window, listen to laughs and joy roll down the hall, and still hear themselves think. Juxtaposed to this more intimate setting, yet no less enchanting in the slightest, is a serene glass walled & roofed main dining hall that overlooks the River Shannon and beyond.

And it goes without saying, although it surely never hurts to reiterate, marvelous restaurants, their architecture, and all else, is brought to life and amplified ten-fold by its collective team and proprietors. Each employee I spoke with was in a great mood and obviously happy to put it mildly. Ideally my travels bring me through Limerick once again because I’d certainly enjoy another afternoon at the...

Dont understand the hype about this place. We had our lunch there recently and felt "not welcomed" from very beginning. The moment we opened the doors the guy asked as how he can help us?? Like we came to a restaurant so what do you expect me to say ? We went upstairs but there was no one to gave us table as all the staff were doing something else and was clearly putting no attention to us. So we chose to sit to one of the tables only to hear one of the staff members shouting at as that the table is reserved and showing us the different table without even saying Hello or giving us menu which was a little rude. Finally after few minutes we got served and chose our food. It was around 12:30 so I chose Beef and Guinness pie and my wife chose the pan fried Gnocchi and some drink ( dont remember the name now). The guy came back 5 min later that they dont have pie ( which was little weird as it was only 12:30) and that they cant make that drink either as they no longer buying ingredients for that drink - so why still have it in menu then. I chose burger as replacement for the pie. We were not very impressed with food the portions were too small and I would say that the food was quite average and not worth the price. Overall I cant give more that 2/5 as the portions were small, atmosphere wasnt nice and the food was overpriced. Maybe they would treat us better if we were more fancy and more rich looking as some businessmans sitting next...

As per other recent reviews, management is ruining what used to be an amazing spot. Staff is terrific, but manager is far from customer centric, is allergic to locals, and should not be interacting with customers until he has more customer experience training. Have been coming here for 15 years, spent thousands on hosting events here throughout the years, but twice in the past month I came here with friends and family and felt unwelcome by him both times. First, was told by him there was no availability despite plenty of empty tables, then thankfully a staff member walked over and said we could be accommodated to which the manager said “ok but you have to be out of here in 2 hours”, acting as if this is Midtown Manhattan. Second time, after enjoying a delicious meal, he came over and asked us to leave before we could order dessert and coffee saying “our time limit is up, if you want to drink more the bar is available”. We were not even drinking, and were not made aware of a time limit this time. Both instances there was zero tact or friendliness (not even a “hello did you enjoy the meal”) and very transparent that he cares only about management’s policies and not the customer experience. Adding insult to injury, we were charged €2.50 on the bill for one extra slice of bread to go with the chowder. This charge is another example of transparent non-customer centric policies, and was not communicated to us when we asked for the...

My friends and I come to The Curragower quite often for the delicious food that they serve here (chicken and waffles in the picture). However, the service disappoints us more and more with every visit, to the point that I decided to leave a review. First, always rude hostess at the entrance. It doesn’t matter whether you have reservations or not, they will always sound annoyed. Then the waitresses. The way they talk to you makes you feel like you owe them something. And then, you are lucky if you get their attention after you’ve ordered, because they won’t look at you or come check whether you need water or would like to order more. The last time we went, we ordered desserts and were waiting for them to come for an hour because the waitress forgot about them. And all this when the restaurant is not even packed. When we finally found her and asked about it, she neither offered an apology nor showed any courtesy; just brought it to the table with the sourest expression imaginable. I’m sorry, but you would not expect this kind of treatment at the place like The Curragower. As someone who worked in the hospitality sector, this should not be allowed. No customer should be treated like this. Such service seriously undermines what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.

We booked a team dinner here based on strong recommendations and had colleagues visiting from the U.S., so expectations were high. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The room we were seated in was extremely warm—so much so that we ended up using our dessert menus as fans just to stay comfortable. At this price point (we spent nearly €400), I would have expected a better dining environment. On the food side, it was a bit of a mixed bag. Most dishes were good—the fish, in particular, was excellent and I’d recommend it. However, the burger was disappointing. When I went to take a bite, something (possibly the bacon) didn’t sit right. Thankfully, our server was very professional and helpful—she provided great service and kindly removed the burger from the bill without hesitation. Overall, the experience was just okay. Given the price, I’d be hesitant to return, but credit where it’s due: the service was warm and attentive, and the fish was a standout. ****update**** 27th Of August We went back again and the experience was different. Staff were nice and the food was good.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Curragower and was thoroughly impressed with both the food and the atmosphere. I ordered the Sous-Vide Chicken Supreme, a staff favorite, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The chicken was tender and juicy, paired with perfectly cooked baby carrots, green beans, girolle mushrooms, and crispy kale. The pomme Anna added a crisp, buttery crunch, while the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth and comforting. The rich gravy tied everything together beautifully—every bite was delicious. Beyond the incredible food, the restaurant itself is warm and inviting. The interior features exposed brick walls, soft leather seating, and elegant pendant lighting that gives the space a cozy, relaxed vibe. The marble-topped tables and plastic flowers on each table add a charming, if slightly artificial, decorative touch. Despite the flowers not being real, the ambiance remains stylish and welcoming, making it a lovely spot to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend The Curragower for anyone looking for fantastic food in a comfortable, well-designed setting. Can’t wait to visit again!
