The Wine & Tapas Bar At The Old Orchard — Restaurant in South Dublin

First off, I would like to say I think this place has huge potential, and a tapas bar is a great addition to the area.

I have been twice, first time was when the restaurant was just open and we had a lovely time, food and drinks were great. So, since the renovations are all finished we decided to give it another try.

The food was a huge disappointment, everything was smothered in chilies and was more akin to Chinese food than Spanish... I know they are not claiming an authentic Spanish experience but I think the food is way off the mark, it’s nice but all too spicy and this was really unexpected.

They had run out of Spanish wine (under €30 price point) so we had to go for a French wine. And the servers were lovely, but the food took way too long to come out, we were probably waiting the best part of an hour and this was a mid-week visit and the place was less than 50% full.

The decor is amazing and it has a great vibe, and I probably would go again for a drink, but not for food. Like I said, I think it has great potential if they get the food right, portion sizes, and...

Booked in yesterday with three pals at 5.30, at no stage at the point of booking or confirming of booking was I told that we had to off table at 7.30. Ordered the bread to start which took 25 minutes to arrive we had to request it again. Food was served which was absolutely fab, sitting chatting finishing our wine and bill arrived which wasn’t requested. After paying the bill the manager arrived with our coats, our drink not finished. I informed him we weren’t finished and we were waiting for our pal to come back from the bathroom to which he replied quite rudely “go inside” and practically threw coats at me to which one of them ended up on the floor and he just turned and walked away. Have to say I’m mad about this wine tapas bar. From the moment you enter in through the door the amazing ambience hits you soft lighting , cosy intimate feeling and wonderful atmosphere. Staff are attentive friendly and discreet. Food from beginning to end is fabulous well persented and well served. Brilliant place for romantic night out. Or great with group of friends.
