I visited this cafe with my parents and their friends this morning, and unfortunately, it was a highly disappointing experience. Despite pre-booking our table and arriving early, our visit was marred by several issues.
To begin with, we were served tea as the first item, but it arrived far too early compared to the food. By the time we started eating, the tea had turned cold and was undrinkable. It was a disappointing start to our meal.
We placed our food order around 11:10 AM, and the wait for our food was exceptionally long. Despite our request to split the bills, the staff informed us that doing so would result in our food arriving at separate times. While we understood their limitations, we were not prepared for the disorganized manner in which our orders were handled. The food did not start arriving until 12:30 PM, and even then, it was served in a staggered manner, with some items coming up to 30 minutes apart. This caused confusion and frustration among our group, especially as we watched other customers who arrived later receive their orders before us.
Furthermore, as we were a large group, we had anticipated that our food would be served together or at least within a few minutes of each other. However, some of our family members received their food while others had to wait longer, which led to disappointment and even tears among the children. It was disheartening to see them looking at each other's plates and feeling left out.
It was evident that the cafe prioritized smaller groups and couples who arrived after us, which left us waiting for an unacceptable amount of time. We had pre-booked and expected efficient service considering the substantial amount we paid, totaling 275 euros.
While I must acknowledge that the shakshuka was a standout dish, the overall experience was marred by the extensive wait, cold tea, and disorganized service. It is important for the cafe to address these issues to provide a more enjoyable dining experience for their customers in the future.
I hope the cafe takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a smoother and more satisfying experience for all patrons."
Once again, I apologize for any misunderstandings, and I appreciate your patience in providing the additional details. It's essential to maintain a fair and objective tone when sharing reviews, focusing on the specific aspects of the experience that...
Read moreUpdate: Unfortunately, I can't answer to cafe Vergnano's reply so I'm updating here:
You said that my husband insisted for the drink but it's not true. You said that you don't serve the Italian chocolate anymore and it's not on the menu. He tried to show you that it's ON THE MENU ABOVE THE COUNTER. But as the situation was already unpleasant, the staff already didn't want to hear this. I calmly explained that we wish it wasn't on the menu. That's all. After I said that calmly, your waitress shouted on my face with rage to never come back. She didn't ask me to leave, it's not the same.
The way you're trying to present the story isn't true. Nothing can excuse your waitress shouting at tfe customer even though there's a confusion from our side. And this confusion happened because you don't keep your menu updated and misinform customers.
The staff just had to apologise and admit that menu is wrong and that it must be changed. This would resolve all the problem and dissatisfaction. However you prefer to not admit mistakes, not improving your service and show everyone that this place doesn't deserve a visit.
We entered the cafe because outside on the menu we have seen Italian hot chocolate. We wanted to order it. My husband ordered 2 hot chocolates and then I have seen that it's usual one that we can't drink, unfortunately. I apologized and mentioned that we wanted the Italian one. The barista said that they don't serve Italian hot chocolate. And I answered that we have seen it on the menu and that's why we ordered. She easily refunded the hot chocolate, which was nice. My husband looked again through the menu above the counter to show that it is on the menu. My husband and I just wanted to hear that they will take it out from the menu. That other people won't get disappointed as we did. The waitress got super aggressive over me shouting that we shouldn't come back. It's unacceptable...
Read moreThe idea was to treat my wife to a memorable 60th birthday meal. The views are absolutely stunning from the restaurant. Hence the 1 star. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Firstly. Horror of horrors there was not 1 Italian dish on the menu. Not bad for an Italian restaurant!!!!!????? The service was appalling. The staff lacked any interest in their customers (an empty coffee cup stood on our table for a half hour and the waitress had to be called to remove it.). Trying to make the most of a bad job we ordered something off the" short" menu. Not what we were looking for but, hey, we were hungry. 45 minutes later still no sign of our food. We were told by the waitress we would get our food in 1 minute...10 minutes later still nothing. Enough being enough we decided to leave, just behind another group who had had the same experience. It wasn't all bad...the coffee was delicious. The cause of all this disappointment...they had a large group/ party to cater for. So the rest of us were clearly not important enough to warrant any effort made to make our experience a good one. Poor planning and training on managements part. Would I recommend this place? Not in a million years. Mr. Vergnano Mr. Wilde must be turning in...
