Visited today (29/12/23) with my husband and 2 children (5yr old & 20mths) We used to love calling in here when in Navan Shopping Centre. The previous manager was an absolute gentleman who always (no matter how busy,) took time to welcome you and check on us during our visit, always had a pleasant word for my son. The current manager is very rude. He's changed the way you order. The manager takes the orders and seats customers doubling the wait time. (everyone is entitled to try a new system, BUT this one doesn't work.) You're waiting longer to order. We ordered a Full Irish Breakfast, Portion of pancakes with Nuttella, Toast and Jam (for 5yr old) (nothing on menu suitable for 20mth old, something as simple as a yoghurt would have done her), a btl of Fanta and 2 teas for a grand total of €30.70. 😮 The pancakes were advised on the menu as served with fresh fruit and cream, the Nutella was an extra €2. (There was no fruit or cream and the Nutella was so hard it was hard to spread on pancakes without tearing them up) Cost €9.35. The only bread option was sourdough or homemade brown, for the toast. What 5 yr old likes sourdough? (Plain Brennan's bread would be better) The Full Irish Breakfast price (€11.55) didn't include tea or coffee. What coffee shop/cafe doesn't include tea or coffee when having a breakfast? The pancakes arrived well before the toast and the pre cooked breakfast. As we were leaving my husband decided to approach the manager to enquire about the prices and was told that no breakfast includes tea or coffee. In reference to the pancakes a reply of "ah well". No apology or even an "I'll look in to it". When my husband said about the delay in getting seated he just said "we're busy" to which my husband replied that previously it was always busy but never with a wait as long as we had today, due to his new system of insting on taking the orders instead of allowing us to queue at counter as previously. This statement was met with a grunt. The current management don't seem to care about the customers as long as the money...
Read moreI’m not a frequent customer but I typically enjoy coming here, I have visited esquire a few times and apart from the food being a bit pricey the service has been grand as I was with family. Although in my experience today I didn’t feel as welcomed, I came with my mates just for a coffee and a chat, our mate sat at a table and myself and other friend went to get out coffee. The woman said that it was okay that we already had a table but the man at the till said otherwise, he asked us did we have a table number we said no our mates at a table and he said where is your table then with a horrid dirty look on his face and we did not feel welcomed. When we got back to our table our friend proceeded to buy her drink, she got herself sorted but when he asked what table she was at he responded with “oh you’re with those people😒” as if we had done something nasty to him. Overall we had a grand experience, coffee was a bit pricey but was still okay, MOST of the staff was lovely and friendly (he knows who he is), but that one guy could really use a change of manners I can understand if he has had a bad day or suffering with mental illness but that is no excuse to be rude. Everyone should be treated with respect and kindness no matter the age...
Read moreWent for breakfast in Esquires today and was disgusted with what I was served and how they handled my complaint when I made one. I ordered the full breakfast which cost €11.55 and it looked nice when it was served, but after taking my second bite of the brown bread that was served with it I noticed the tasted of mould from the bread and on closer inspection, the toasted brown bread was covered in green mould. It completely turned me off my food and made me feel physically sick. I had only eaten a piece of egg and half a sausage. I hate complaining but I felt this was not acceptable especially at that price. My friend called a staff member over and when we complained she just said sorry about that and took the plate away....no refund or any attempt to rectify the situation, just took my food and left me with no breakfast or reasonable explanation as to why. When leaving the premises the lift wouldn't work and when my friend asked a staff member if it was not working she just said "I don't know and walked off" we had to carry the buggy and my toddler along with our shopping down the large winding stairs. I definitely won't be returning to this establishment, never have witnessed the likes...
