This is an expensive upscale Kosher restaurant right on the beach. I haven't been to many other high-end Kosher restaurants so it's hard to compare, but all in all this was well below my expectations, and definitely not as good as many other non-Kosher options for the same price. Some anecdotes from our meal:
One of the group members wanted to order the Sirloin, asked for it to be Medium. The waiter replied they only do it Medium-Rare which was odd to me. However, the truly ridiculous part is that eventually, the steak came out Medium to Medium-well. If you're going to be snobbish about how you make your steaks, at least get it right! Also, the steak lacked seasoning, and there was no salt/pepper in the table.
In the beginning, the waiter split the menu into 3 categories: starters, mid-courses, and large mains. Me & another person ordered some starters to share, and then both ordered one of the larger dishes from the mid section as the "main" courses for ourselves (one for each). However, literally all of the mid-dishes, that were really a lot closer to mains than starters, came at the same time as the starters (actually a minute before). This really messed up the experience for us, since literally all of the food that we ordered came out at the same time. The waiter never told us explicitly when the mid-dishes are arriving, but with some common sense you could see that this was a ridiculous situation, and definitely not something you expect in a restaurant like this.
One of the dishes' descriptions failed to mention Tahini as an ingredient, even though: it had a detailed list of ingredients, it was a significant part of the dish, and even though Sesame is a known allergen
We were 7 people, which usually is ordered as 2-3 adjacent tables, or a larger round table. In our case they chose to organize it as a 2-by-2 square, which means people in opposite ends were super far apart from each other, making the interactions really uncomfortable,
All in all I didn't know whether to give this 2 or 3 stars, since the design of the place and the location are great, and some of the dishes were tasty, but I definitely don't see myself...
Read moreWe (a couple) went to West Side to celebrate my birthday. We weren’t very hungry so we ordered two mains: the filet steak and the sweetbread risotto with burnt tomatoes. They were both fantastic and very different from each other - the filet was cooked to perfection and had a slightly sweet umami sauce that complimented it well, and the risotto had a tangy taste from the tomatoes and a mint aroma that balanced the richness of the risotto and the sweetbread and made the dish feel light. The portions were on the small side so if you are hungry you should definitely order starters. For dessert we ordered 4 desserts and got 1 complimentary dessert and an additional cake for my birthday, so basically their entire dessert menu. They were surprisingly good considering they are parve. The chocolate mousse is a classic, and we also loved the lemon-pistachio dessert and the pecan toffee cake. The service was great, our sever was super friendly and attentive and overall we had a...
Read moreWe had a fantastic evening event at this restaurant - 16 people. Overall, a very good choice. They serve a menu to the middle of the table. We selected the premium menu - the food was indeed very good, creative dishes, sophisticated yet simple, and high quality.
The selection they offered was well balanced and the amount of food was just right.
They placed us in another section of the restaurant which gave us privacy. Great ambiance, modern decor and high end furniture.
I give them 4 stars for service because the event started a bit off with an inattentive waitress and a rude bartender but once I raised the issue with the manager the service instantly was brought up to a level you'd expect at this level of restaurant. The manager personally got involved in the service.
Given the experience, this place is now first on my list for our next...
