Would rather go to Mcdonalds for meat!
The restaurant may have been, but is not worthy of the good rating it's enjoying.
Short story: There's better places go in the area, we came because the raving reviews on gmaps.
All the meze is from cans, meat is bad.
Long story: We're not picky, we have been around and eaten most things around the globe, this place is just hyped and should be avoided.
Service: First off, what is it with the loud party music in this place?! It's like being in Russia!
Boarderline rude service. Entrecôte was out, so they no longer served it (one of like 4 cuts, whats going on?). Waiter recommended a salad starter, where a apparent misinterpretation where he "threw on" more fries and hummus (for 50 NIS). I counted 9 people standing around, we never got an appointed waiter, so it seemed highly disorganized as 5 different people served the table. We got asked if food was good, I said no. Got a question why, answered and get a shrug back. Maybe because we're foreigners?
Staff recommendations: Introduce one waiter, make it more personal to the customer. Introduce meals and be clear on the orders by repearing the order to the customer, this is routine for a reason. Show a beverage list. It's missing from the menu. Get a feel for the music and theme you want to display, adjust the volume to the ammount of guests. Can't be nice working in that environment.
Food: So, the interesting part! The salad starter/main is massive with an impressive array of dishes (like 15 small plates) for 60 NIS/pp and 32 NIS for skewers . All good and happy, some of the things were ok, some bad, but a lot of food!
Skewers; we had kebab, chicken, tenderloin and lamb. Kebab was ok compared to the rest. Chicken ok. The meat seems to be grilled under too low heat (no grilled taste at all) and had a funky taste. It tasted like old stale meat. Not fresh at all, we left it.
Hummus tasted almost only of tahini.
When plates got cleaned up, one plastic cover from the small plates showed up, stuck under a plate, embarrassing! So everything seems to be store bought!
Kitchen recommendation: make sure its fresh meat, grill on higher temperature and shorter time, put some salt and pepper on the meat BEFORE grilling, not while grilling!
And come ON, there's nothing Swedish about that red cabbage! It red cabbage and mayo, and it's disgusting.
Take long hard look at what you are throwing away and...

Read moreItzik Hagadol is an Israeli shipudei (grill house) proudly displaying their meats from their window. But honestly, you can just skip the meats entirely, for once you sit down, an assortment of no fewer than 20 little plates of salads and dips are brought to the table, along with freshly-baked laffa flatbread. These small plates were enough to make a meal all on their own, and each one was distinct in flavor and preparation. To point out a few highlights, I especially liked the fava bean purée, spicy eggplant, zhoug (spicy herb paste), tabbouleh, Israeli salad (chopped lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, herbs), liver-flavored eggplant, fried eggplant, and falafel. Other items included several different preparations of carrots (Moroccan and raw), tomato (grated, spicy, and matbucha), and eggplant; celery salad, beets, creamy white and red cabbage, fried potatoes, Russian salad, pickled chilies, and grilled tomatoes/onions/peppers. Everything went nicely with the laffa bread, which was covered with sesame seeds and had chewy edges and a thin, crispy interior, and you could compose so many combinations and bites with the different components. And the best part was that you could get unlimited refills of any of the salads, dips, and bread! Now do you see why you can just skip the...
