We visited this restaurant primarily for a new experience, as my work involves exploring new attractions and culinary guidance for tourists. Unfortunately, we left this place absolutely shocked by the bad attitude we experienced.
We ordered Pad Ped, egg rolls, and Panang, and each dish was disappointing and far from real Thai food, which is famous for its rich flavors. Pad Ped was spicy but tasteless, the egg rolls were so oily that they left me with a burning stomach, and Panang didn't taste remotely like red curry; all I could taste was peanut butter. And peanut butter was not supposed to be among the ingredients of this dish.
When we politely asked the waitress to return one dish and to pass to the cook (aka chef aka owner) that we were not happy with it, a few minutes later, we heard someone screaming in the kitchen. A furious Thai woman appeared before us, didn't even pretend being a bit nice or listening our reasons, instead she started literally barking at us like: "Those are my dishes; if you don't like it, that's your problem—don't eat them!" Her rudeness took us aback. Again, we weren't refusing to pay; we simply wanted to discuss our experience with the cook, which is a normal practice in most NORMAL restaurants, no?
If this place considers itself a restaurant - behave like one!!
I’ve never experienced such shockingly bad treatment anywhere, even in small street food stalls in remote areas of Asia. This is unbelievable and unacceptable!
I will never recommend this place (I hesitate to even call it a "restaurant") to locals or tourists...
Read moreWOW Absolutely delicious Massaman curry, this is the first time I have tried the dish and I'm absolutely obsessed. I will be back for more! I wasn't a fan of the Kanoman personally, Although if you are a huge fan of coconut you may like it more than me. I will absolutely be back. Exceptional food.
Update, second visit. I got the Massaman curry again, absolutely delicious just like the first time. I also tried the tapioca beef dumplings, Sacco. Very good! I have never tasted anything like that before. I would definitely order it again.
Update, third visit. I returned today and had two other dishes. The rice roll wraps, Po Pia Sod. The ingredients were very fresh which I enjoyed, but I found the chicken inside somewhat bland. I also wish they would have not cut them because it made them fall apart more. They were not bad, just not at flavorful as I would have liked. I also had the rice noodle soup, Gavi Tiao. Absolutely delicious. Very flavorful, lots of noodles. I wish they added a bit more meat to it. I highly recommend that dish!
Update: I tried the banana crepe for dessert tonight and it was SO good. crispy caramelized and just the right amount...
Read moreTo start with, this is not our first time eating at Eisan however this time we did not enjoy the food so much. Granted, the restaurant resides in the middle of the Ha'Carmel market but it's not to say the place should not be clean.. the toilet were closed so we couldn't wash our hands. The service was below the expected service level, it was was quick and flexible but not friendly or kind. We were provided with water without asking so to that was a good start. We had to return the first dish for adjustments and we didn't bother with the rest, everything was too sweet and not authentic (i.e. missing flavors) although the person in the kitchen was Thai. The chicken didn't taste fresh and all in all not the best experience. The Bill however came to 300 nis, that's quite expensive providing we couldn't finish our meal. It might be worth revisiting at a later stage and I hope this comments will be taken into...
