Cafè Girasole — Restaurant in Agrigento

My husband and I stopped by to have a quick lunch at this place. I was finishing my pasta with zucchini and ricotta when I felt that I was biting on something really sharp. Imagine my shock when I spat a piece of glass (at least 1,5 cm) onto the napkin. We called for the waiter, and he immediately apologized and took the piece to the kitchen to ‘clarify the situation.’ A woman showed up from the kitchen (I believe she prepares the meals) and apologized again. She told us that a week before, something huge had broken into a million pieces in the kitchen, and they did their best to clean the place, but apparently, it was impossible to guarantee that no glass was left. The staff was very polite and apologized many times. The pasta was excluded from the bill and they‘ve got me a bottle of water. I still believe it is important to leave this review here because it is simply dangerous for your health to eat here since they are not sure themselves if there are any glass pieces left. My emotional state is not great as well. I still don’t know if I spat out all of the glass or swallowed a piece of it and now have to wait, as Google suggests, for the next 24-48 hours to see if any damage to my health was made. 1. nobody greeted us, had to ask whether to order inside and no you don’t
2. incredibly long wait for 2 salads and a sandwich like 50min
3. food came but drinks didn’t - had to ask again
4. a glass for beer was given to us wet, over another table and a wine glass
5. one of the 2 aperol spritzes was super watery
6. as others said before food was okay but nothing to ride home about
7. asked for the bill and had to wait again for a long time (even locked eyes with the waiter many times while he chilled and or danced with friends or collegues)

Do not come here. The staff is extremely rude and the service is trash. It took them 20 minutes to greet us or even take our order. To which we were greeted with “you can’t order food, only drinks”. I ordered an iced coffee and this is what I received. I asked for more ice and offered to pay more for it and was just told “no, we won’t”. They had an attitude the whole time and the whole experience was super weird. My expectations are not high- I come from the service industry and have a lot of respect for this work. This is unacceptable and I’d rather see a local cafe get your business because the majority on the strip are kind and hospitable. Pity that they let people like...
