We should have left as soon as we were seated. The tables to the side were on a steep incline and literally had to turn my chair adjacent to the table it was so uncomfortable. The first waiter was polite and took our drink order and was very quick bringing them back. Then came the coperto which look like like two pieces of bread thrown in a basket from the other side of the room. They were very different in size and texture, I truly believe they were recycled bread from a previous customer. We rarely eat this part of the meal so we let it slide and left them alone. The water that we are accustomed to receiving, never came. Again rarely use unless drinks take awhile but part of the meal so be it. Our next waitress was prompt, but got the feeling she did not like her job or felt like dealing with us. The food came out extremely fast especially with the amount of people there(only saw one many two tables open) Then we figured out why. I order the Diavola which was ok other then the crust was very hard. My lady ordered the Culurgiones. What she got was straight out of box lukewarm hard pasta. The shredded ricotta and sauce were also barely warm at most. Best part was probably the basil on top. A differnt waitress took our bread basket in the middle of the meal I only assume to give to yet another table. I literally set my glass down after my last drink when the same waitress grabbed and took it away. Never felt soo rushed to leave. I had not even complained....yet. The bill came with a 5€ surcharge. To be fair we expect this charge however the menu states a 2.50 "surcharge." However as cashier VERY rudely tells me that is per person even without the complete coperto. The 5 Culurgione (out the grocery store down the street) we were charged 18€ was not worth that 5€. Very disappointing experience and actually, my worst experience on this entire trip...
Read moreStay clear of this restaurant. Frozen food, terrible and rude service staff, rushing customers, and very uncomfortable tables and chairs on an incline. But, let me go into details.. We were seated at a very small table that was on a slope, and it made the table very unstable and you have to sit with your body hanging on one side, with the slope. To fix this, a platform should be used to create a leveled surface for the dining tables. We looked around for another table, but we were stuck because only big tables were left, and they were not going to sacrifice a larger table for us. The woman who took our order would have had a root canal rather than being there. It was obvious that she hates her job. We ordered a beer and house wine, but were not brought any water, which is included in "coperto." I ordered the culurgiones, which is a raviolo stuffed with potatoes, topped with tomato sauce and ricotta. My boyfriend ordered a pizza diavola. The culurgiones were obviously frozen. They dough was kind of too al dente, and the filling had not flavor whatsoever. It was like eating cardboard. The canned tomato sauce/puree had no flavor. It was not a sauce. It was tomato puree straight out of a can. I was so disappointed, especially because it is a local dish, and because they charge $18 for it! My boyfriend's pizza was very tough. I guess the oven temperature is too low and the pizza cooks for longer times than necessary, making it tough. It also had no basil on it, and no salt. The service was so rush, nobody smiles, personnel argues about where to sit guests... Stay clear...
Read moreWe had 1 dinner here. I did not read the reviews before that (which I usually do). This restaurant is at the beautifull location - small city square in old historical part of the city. At 22:30 place was partly free. We were afraid they are already closing but very energetic Italian waitress took us and made table ready for us. He and his colleague looked a little bit tired which is understandable but despite that, they were very nice and enjoying their job ( which is a big plus to me as the customer). We had ordered cold potato squid salad as apetitizer, prosecco and paella. We wanted sangria madly, but they told us they don't have it anymore at that night ( little bit dissapointing). Prosecco was fine, squid salad was delicious and even when we divided the portion for 2 people - it was enough. Paella? Paella was PERFECT! Huge portion, very nice taste, fresh seafood, saffran in the rice. Really tasty! They also serve you bread as everywhere in the beginning of the dinner, but I was glad that we were given better class of extra virgin olive oil here - which is still not a rule even in countries where they produce it. So thumbs up Hopera Alghero. We were satisfied, it was only one dinner but I can make only positive reviews about the food quality and the friendliness of the staff. I do recomend. Edit: second visit after 2 months. We had paella again, we waited 35 minutes, and waitress were little bit stressed but Food and pizza was awesome. Paella was PERFECT. Thank you...
