Ristorante di Pesce Il Pavone — Restaurant in Alghero

Almost Michelin level restaurant! Once in Alghero one must and cannot miss the dining experience in Il Pavone restaurant. The first night we went there it was fully booked, we went there the next night and got a seat. Very limited menu but whatever they serve is top notch. One can choose from the 3 options they have in their menu. 1 starter, 1 main course and 1 dessert, 1 starter, 2 main courses and 1 dessert and 1 main course and 1 starter. We chose the most diversified option. Now for each starter main course and dessert one can choose from 6-7 different dishes. The taste still lingers in my mouth and I cannot wait to fly to Alghero and eat here again! The owner is a very friendly and funny guy, but one should never miss the cheese spread that he claims is his own creation. Loved the flavour of the spread. Dining here in Il Pavone is an experience one should not miss...

Not worth your money…extremely disappointing… a total let down.., the worse fish dishes we ever had in a restaurant. And, unfortunately, the atmosphere was not any better. Save your money and instead go to McDonalds for a fish fillet with french fries, you will not regret skipping Il Pavone.

Supposedly Il Pavone is a seafood restaurant, but how, if for their main course they only serve ONE type of fish prepared four ways?? Our group tried 3 of the 4 Segundi and all dishes were uniformly unimpressive or truly awful. How can this restaurant serve small, thin, dried (thawed?) chewy fillets covered by a mediocre sauce or old botarga, and call it a good dish worth 26 euro? What a joke! To make matters worse, the rooms are very loud and the waiters a bit snobbish. Il Pavone will remain the only bad experience we had from an otherwise spectacular week...

The restaurant was recommended by our favorite Italian restaurant in our home town in the Netherlands, Quattro Mori in Maastricht. And a good recommendation!

We hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for 16 people and communicated about this in English with Sr Domenic Caria beforehand. The day before the dinner we visited him and choose the area (inside on his recommendation) which was then only for us.

The tasting menu food was excellent, timing adapted to our wishes with regard to the speeches planned, and most of all, the staff was courteous, flexible and attentive to our needs.
