Cajò — Restaurant in Alghero

My first time in Sardegna, I was really excited to try Cajo’s pizza after seeing it all over my TikTok FYP. When I arrived, there was a huge line, which I was fine with. I asked if there was a bar inside for solo diners, but instead of just answering, the staff rushed me off and told me to wait in line. It wasn’t my intention to skip the line, I was simply asking a question. After waiting about 50 minutes, I finally reached the front. However, the host repeatedly seated couples and groups of three behind me, likely because they would bring in more money. That felt completely unfair. When he finally called me, he even told me to “fix my face” and smile, which was unnecessary and unprofessional. I stayed only because I had already waited so long and wanted to try the pizza. Unfortunately, it was disappointing—too much tomato sauce, and I only managed to eat two slices. The best restaurant in all of Sardinia! The staff are just awesome, they're friendly, funny, creating a great atmosphere, yet at the same time lightning fast with the service. The food doesn't need to be described at all - absolutely delicious, high quality ingredients, full of flavor, prepared with care and love. You'll be sitting in a narrow alleyway, which might not be for everybody but there's always the option for a table inside, however, the street atmosphere is totally fabulous and you'll feel like a part of a big family. My utmost respects for being openly pro-LGBT, which I guess is hard in this hateful world nowadays. Plus, the staff speak English very well, which was not our experience everywhere on the island. If I could give -5 stars, I would. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.

We made a reservation well in advance, and even confirmed everything via WhatsApp. When we showed up on time, they told us there was no reservation and made a bunch of poor excuses about being “fully booked.” How convenient that the WhatsApp chat was suddenly deleted using the 7-day auto-delete setting. No accountability, no apology — just complete disrespect.

To make things worse, it was a busy evening and because of their mistake, we couldn’t find another place to have dinner. They ruined our night and wasted our time.

This level of unprofessionalism is shameful. No one should be treated like this. Absolutely not recommended, and I will never be coming back.
