I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was truly upsetting and worth sharing.
My partner and I were seated at this restaurant in Alghero and waited over 40 minutes without anyone taking our order. During that time, we were dismissed by two different waiters when we tried to place a simple pizza order.
When a server finally came, we asked politely for one pizza for my partner — I wasn’t ordering anything because I wasn’t feeling well and simply came to accompany him. I even explained this to the server.
Instead of understanding, he was openly rude and dismissive. He scolded me, saying that if I was seated, I had to order something. I explained again that I was sick and not eating, but he continued to be confrontational and made us feel very uncomfortable.
I’ve traveled extensively and have always appreciated the hospitality of Italian restaurants — but this interaction was completely disrespectful. It’s deeply upsetting to be treated this way, especially when unwell. Basic empathy and courtesy were completely lacking here.
There are many wonderful restaurants in Alghero where the staff is welcoming and kind — this was unfortunately not...
Read moreWhilst some of the food was alright, the meat was undercooked and had to be sent back, the staff were disorganised, plates all delivered at different times, we were told a time frame in which to finish our meal before even sitting down, and when their card machine rejected the transaction at the end of the meal (definitely an error on their end, and not ours- as we rang the bank to check!), the owner decided to humilate us by shouting loudly that the card had been rejected, to "pay cash and leave" (causing people to turn around and stare) before proceeded to feign communication issues when we tried to explain that English cards do not facilitate contactless payment in excess of €40. He was so rude, it would not only deter us from ever visiting that restaurant again, but also has sadly tainted the entire town, which my parents had previously loved. I cannot advise strongly enough to avoid this restaurant at all costs, for aside from one nice waiter, the entire experience was appalling. I have never before felt strongly enough to write a critical review of anywhere, but this was such a negative experience, we felt compelled...
Read moreAwful. Don’t risk it! Our starters were ok, but they then brought out the wrong meal for my husband - and delivered my ravioli at the same time. The filling was solid, tasteless ricotta so, instead of awkwardly eating on my own while we waited for my husband’s food, I asked if they could swap it for the culurgiones. They begrudgingly obliged. A few minutes later, his steak arrived - small, grey and lank, with browning salad leaves. My culurgiones also appeared - cold on the outside of the dish and warm in the middle, so clearly microwaved. We tried the food but it was bland, not hot and very unappealing, so we decided not to eat it.
My husband tried to speak to the owner, who insisted that we paid the FULL bill, despite not eating our mains or even finishing our wine. He blamed our ‘bad taste’ for not liking the food. We felt very uncomfortable and so paid and left. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced!
(Photo added as requested by owner - this is most definitely your restaurant! I hadn’t event mentioned the pale, limp, sad-looking vegetables - but these are now...
