Lievitum Mater — Restaurant in Assisi

Very disappointed. The pizza was heavy, too much dough, not fully cooked but also burnt, their signature pizza I assume (lievitum Mater) was drenched in tomato sauce, great sauce but man that was a lot, on top some tasty mozzarella but again way too much and placed onto the pizza after it was sitting on a plate for some time (no, that’s not the way to dry a pizza). Same for the pizza bianca, way undercooked but burnt as were the potatoes on top, poor technique to spread the pizza dough and maybe the palline way to big for the size it was spread. So poor heat management, poor dough handling technique no delicacy with la farcitura…. Ingredients seemed really tasty…. Very nice and...

We came so Late at our vacation flat so we decide to eat some Good Pizza in Assisi.. the waitress says to us we can wait and we wait 20 min that a other waiter comes to use and say the Restaurant is Full.. so we leave the Restaurant. But i was a Little Bit sad about it and i Go back and ask if we can become Pizzas to Go or can come Later but it was always a Problem :D and then the waiter lies at me and say the Pizza is out of Order.. at 9 o clock in the evening!! We came back later and saw That the Pizza oven is always working.. this was so unrespectful and i was very shocked about this Situation.. Later we got some nice welcome Pizzas in the „La Lanterna“...

One of the best Pizzas i ever had, we didn't even bother to find another place to eat the next day, we just came there again because it was sooooooo good, i couldn't finish my pizza so i took the rest home and had the best breakfast ever it was even perfect the next morning.

The little Garden is so cute and it is just such a great Atmosphere! The service was perfect, our Waiter was very very friendly!

I can't imagine that we could have found a better place to eat anywhere in Assisi, between all the touristy places, this one stands out and is just an amazing restaurant!
