We made our second visit to La Vite Turchese a couple weeks ago, and it was fantastic, and perhaps even better than our first visit. For starters, the place itself is great: Comfortable, well located, and with a wide selection of wines to try (or buy).
Susi did our tasting, as she did last time, and she is wonderful--so knowledgeable and helpful. We loved our experience with her! If you aren't entirely sure what you want to try, she makes great suggestions and can help you figure out which direction to go. We wanted to try wines from the different communes of Barolo, and Susi set us up with some great flights and side-by-sides, so we learned a lot about how the various soil types affect the wines. We got some charcuterie and local cheeses and they were all amazing. It was great fun, and really informative! If we're ever in the area, we will continue to make a point of visiting La Vite Turchese. Easily one of our favorite...
ย ย ย Read moreHad a tasting here arranged by our hotel (Castello Di Sinio) - the tasting was $150E per person (alittle high compared to other large scale tastings in the area), and included 14 wines, all from small producers so none of the big names youโd expect for the cost. It was a good tasting and very informative, where things went wrong for me was after the tasting; we purchased 10 bottles after the tasting and were very excited for the value we felt we had gotten on each. We spent the next 3 days traveling around the area visiting other wine bars / enotecas and realized that we drastically overpaid for each bottle. E.g. bottle of 2005 Virna we bought for $75E - found elsewhere for $48-62E. Countless other examples. Iโd go there to do a SMALL tasting, but would shop around before buying wine there;...
ย ย ย Read moreI want to thank Enoteca La Vรญte Turchese and Marcello specifically for a great tasting experience and conversation. He gave us a very elaborate overview of Barolo region and answered all of our questions. His approach was very personal. I also want to thank the rest of the staff for great service. We chose to taste 3 Barolo Classico and 4 Braolo Cru wines which were selected in a very knowledgeable way. Wines were paired with local cheese, ham and salami, followed by a detailed description and wine pairing suggestions. The wine store is impressive and is a subject of appreciation on its on. You can find wines from all over the world. So many amazing wines also from smaller regions of Europe, like Tenerife for example. Amazing experience, thank you very much ๐๐ It is a must...
