Marien Platz Ristorante e Birreria — Restaurant in Bergamo

This was one of the few places opened till 3pm and since I was having a late lunch with my girlfriend, we tried this place. I had the deer with polenta while my girlfriend had the cream pasta. Additionally, we ordered some sausages with fries and sauerkraut (which isn’t photographed). Polenta here is really good! Very fast with the sauce and the deer meat was fabulously cooked. The cream pasta was also delicious and creamy. Although the sausage was a little underwhelming, it was still ok. I was expecting a different kind of sausage but it wasn’t bad. Nice place. Stumbled across it while looking for somewhere to eat. Set back from the street. Very busy, which is always a good thing. I had tagliatelle with game ragu and pine nuts (though disappointingly the latter were missing from my meal), which was quite salty but yummy all the same. Husband had the half hock and chips lunch deal which was good value. Grilled vegetables were pricey for what they were and the bread basket is chargeable but we were not told this. Tutte le volte che ci andavo mi veniva voglia di acquistare un drindl, il tipico abito femminile bavarese, peraltro piuttosto caro, ma tanto carino e tipico. Fino a un po' di tempo fa, infatti in questo ristorante le cameriere indossavano questa "divisa" mentre servivano ai tavoli. Purtoppo, non so se per motivi economici o per altri motivi, magari di praticità, non seguono più la tradizione e gli abiti sono scomparsi a favore della classica divisa da cameriere (almeno fino all'ultima volta che ci sono stata). Io mi auguro che ritornino alla tradizione quanto prima e anzi faccio un invito al proprietario in tal senso. Il locale invece è tipicamente arredato alla bavarese, sempre uguale negli anni, con tavoloni e panche (non proprio comodissimi in verità). La cucina è tipica, non particolarmente elaborata ma abbastanza curata e buona. Naturalmente abbondano le salsicce, lo speck, le patate, i canederli, gli stinchi, gli spatzle, i crauti e tutto ciò che si può mangiare in Baviera. Certo sono cose che devono piacere ed è pur sempre una cucina considerata poco raffinata però, se si ha voglia di variare, va benissimo. Il bagno potrebbe essere tenuto meglio ma non è certo dei peggiori che abbia visto. Il parcheggio non c'è e quindi tocca parcheggiare e poi raggiungere a piedi il ristorante. Per quel che riguarda i prezzi devo dire che sono parecchio aumentati ultimamente, diciamo che sono letteralmente lievitati, cosa che mi ha alquanto indisposto. Quindi, consigliato...ma era meglio un po'...
