After a long and hard day, my girlfriend and I decided to stop by and have a meal. From the outside, nothing seemed amiss. It was evening, and they asked us if we had a reservation. We didn't, and they told us there was only seating available inside. Fine, no big deal. The hall inside was completely empty. Nevertheless, they led us to the very front of the restaurant and seated us in the walkway right next to the noisiest group. We asked if we could sit somewhere else, and they said no. Okay, we were hungry.
We waited quite a while for the menu, without any apparent reason why they couldn't give it to us right away when we were seated. Eventually, the menu did arrive! Hooray! We chose our food quickly and waited another 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Unfortunately, the waiters, two guys, were very busy chatting, and it was impossible to get their attention. It's a pity we had to disturb them... A girl took our order; she was very nice and left a good impression, thank you to her! It seemed like she was the only one working from the entire staff, although she mostly took care of the people sitting outside.
Then we waited another 40-60 minutes for the food (although I ordered gyros!!!), during which we managed to drink a bottle of wine on empty stomachs (maybe that was their plan). No bread or salad was offered. By the way, the restaurant never filled up, and I'm afraid to think how long we would have waited if it were even half full!
Why we were seated in such an unattractive place, next to a loud group, and not allowed to move even when we asked - remains a great mystery.
The food was mediocre; I didn't even get full from the gyros, which is usually the most filling dish in Greek restaurants. We also paid an unjustifiably high price. In general, if any of the staff or the owner reads this, something definitely needs to be done; this is...

Read moreWanted something quick and hot so went to this "Greek" restaurant. Place was empty and we were invited to sit outside where we could smoke. The waitress brought an ashtray ... then the waiter said we couldn't smoke there (??). Ordered Gyros - one chicken and one beef. Meat was tiny shavings with no flavour. Tzaziki was tasteless and the whole thing was wrapped in an impossible to eat round bread, including the chips, which were quite unpleasant. The waiter was surly and tried bringing two bottles of water, rather then the one ordered. Bill was inflated by 2.50 E each for covers. If we were staying in Bergamo longer we certainly wouldn't revisit. Not...
