We wanted to eat something and have a coffee first. We were not allowed to sit down and should drink the coffee standing up. Then we didn't eat anything there anymore because with such a rude impossible behavior we do not support such a restaurant!
Update after the answer: —- Thank you for your response, though I’m disappointed by the tone and lack of professionalism. Let me clarify the situation once again:
When I first approached the staff, I informed them that my friend was inside and had already ordered coffee, and I was planning to join him so that we could have something to eat together. Instead of asking if we intended to dine, your team immediately stated that we couldn’t sit with just coffee, without giving us a chance to order food.
When I went inside to clarify that we were planning to eat, I was again told that we couldn’t sit with coffee, but not once did anyone mention that the tables were reserved. We would have gladly waited for a table if this had been communicated to us, but we were never given that option.
It’s unfortunate that instead of addressing this politely or acknowledging any miscommunication, you chose to accuse me of dishonesty. It’s disappointing when a restaurant responds to constructive criticism with defensiveness rather than using it as an opportunity to improve.
I sincerely hope that in the future, you and your team will be able to handle feedback with more grace and use it to reflect on how situations could be handled better. Criticism is an opportunity for growth, not a reason to lash out. I’m sure that as soon as you learn to see it that way, your restaurant will improve even more.

Read moreWe came for dinner last night, the service was excellent and so was (most) of the food. The wine we ordered wasn’t in stock however the non reserva version was very nice and went down well, for starter we had a large plate of prosciutto type meat with fresh mozzarella cheese - perfect. Mains we had Spaghetti with meatballs and the French Rack of Lamb. Meatballs tasted amazing and was the right portion size, the Lamb looked incredible and you could see it was cooked perfectly being perfectly pink when cut into however it did not taste like Lamb at all, there was no flavour to the meat. We advised the waitress of this and she took it away, explaining later that they had just changed suppliers for the Lamb with us being the first to order it, and they would be finding a new supplier for their meat in the future due to the lack of taste. Our meal was €47 as they took the Lamb off the bill which was nice as we did not have to ask. We would definitely go back, the fish that we saw other tables had ordered...
Read moreMy first meal in Bergamo was delightful and exceeded my expectations.
Opting for a single course due to my appetite, I selected the Casoncelli alla Bergomasca, a traditional pasta dish filled with meat, crispy fried ham, thyme, and Grana Padano cheese.
While awaiting my pasta, I enjoyed a bread basket and two bruschetta topped with diced tomatoes. My drink of choice was an Edelstoff beer from the Augustina brewery in Munich, which was exceptionally good.
Upon arrival, my pasta proved to be a fantastic selection. Although not typically a pasta enthusiast, this dish changed my perspective. The rich flavors were abundant, and while I found it difficult to finish, I thoroughly savored every bite, even using bread to soak up the remaining oil.
The waitresses were both friendly and accommodating, patiently assisting me despite my limited Italian language skills.
I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Tony's during your...
