We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation at lunch and because we are tourists they immediately gave us the menus instead of allowing us to eat what the regular Italians were eating “menu of the day”. Because the prices are moderate, we decided to try diverse things. For the beginning we took water, house wine and those were fine. Then my first course was the cold fish platter which was decent, my friend’s food was the polenta with the sausage and bacon. Extremely little sausage meat with hard texture, lots and lots of polenta and sage. At this point my friend wants to leave, but I insist giving them a second chance. Second course, we order the most expensive dish- fillet steak with french fries. The steak was under 100 grams cooked, full of fat and cartilages. Disgusting. French fries from the freezing section. My meal was a bergamashi stew and it had no flavor, it was almost sour. The meat was sliced extremely thin but what was disgusting is the fact that you could see the cartilages, chewy and disgusting. Just the worst quality of meat you can ever imagine. This was around 70€ on 18-10-2024. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is ok, but the quality of the food is bad and it became a tourist trap. Ate a loooot better în many...

Perhaps the best trattoria in town. We visited quite a few restaurants in Bergamo in the past days. From all of these, Trattoria Parietti is the one that we will undoubtedly come back to in the future. Here is why:
Top notch service (also if you are a tourist). Although they are not proficient in English the waiters do their best to accommodate your requests. They are very attentive and authentic. Nothing fancy, but ordinary professionals who seem to love their job and want to deliver an experience to their visitors. Marco, our waiter was just amazing! Thank you Marco for taking such a good care of us :)
The food is delicious. The portions are large and the choice is plenty. They also have a wide variety of drinks (wine, beer).
The hygiene is very good. The place is kept kept very neat and clean. Yes, also the toilets.
Prices are cheap and almost every dish is affordable for someone with a moderate budget.
Overall, I highly recommend...
Read moreBest restaurant in Bergamo for local food. Their Casoncelli alla bergamasca and polenta taragna dishes are superb! It's close by to the città alta main bus stand (colle aperto), from there it's a 10mins walk into the back hills of città alta. On your way you can see a beautiful view and some very picturesque houses. The restaurant is very simple, has the local touch of bergamo and because their food is so good, it's always full so book a table before you go. I advise it to all the tourists here! A very lively ambience thanks to the people who dine, who actually give that northern Italian vibe. Their prices are moderate, ok prices for the quality. Do try it out before leaving bergamo! At lunch they offer a worker's menu which includes a full meal...
