First time visiting Corner cafe. It’s been a struggle finding a proper breakfast place in beloved Bologna, otherwise the food paradise but with only sweet eatings in the mornings.
I ordered a classic American dish The Eggs Benedict. Generous portion of Parma ham with a decent tasting hollandaise sauce. However poached eggs were completely uncooked. Large quantity of egg whites (not yet white so better to call it “egg clears”) dominated my dish. Requested the waiter to do some correction with their chef. First answer was, “that’s how the poached eggs are”. Then we discussed how they actually make poached eggs in the kitchen. Short answer, they are short on proper tools to make poached eggs. He said it would take the chef 10-15 minutes making another set of eggs in the water. We agreed that I would eat my Benedict minus the eggs. Parma ham over an English muffin with hollandaise sauce certainly didn’t work without the star of the dish.
I was charged the full amount at the end to my disappointment.
Waiter was a nice man but the overall experience ended up very poorly.
If I ever return to this place I must instruct the chef to...
Read moreThis place takes their customer binding seriously, not because their great service, but because our table was very sticky, literally. Let’s be fair, no-one wants to wait a long time for their food and drinks, or for their plates to be cleared. The staff seems too busy for the amount of people in this place.
Our food was decent both in price and quality, but you have to read the menu carefully (we didn’t expect a raw tartare burger, apparently the charcoal was referring to the bun only).
Our night ended with two waiters disagreeing on which, if any games, we’re allowed to play (that is apparently law in Italy). At first we were stopped for playing a card game. After checking AND showing a different (dice) game, this same waiter -explained about a regulation that only disallowed card games- so we played the dice game. Unfortunately some time later (again they are not fast here) a different waiter (that only spoke Italian) stopped us because it also was not allowed. At least get the story straight among all staff members.
In the end we left this place with a lot of disappointment. Would not...
Read moreI absolutely adore Corner Bar in Bologna! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere. The menu is jam-packed with delicious options that will leave you wanting to come back time and time again.
The sandwiches are hands down the best I've ever had - the Homemade Roman Focaccia is absolutely divine, and the toppings are always fresh and full of flavor. The LU with roast beef, fior di latte, avocado, Tropea onion compote, EVO oil, and Maldon salt is a particular favorite of mine.
And let's not forget about the coffee! Whether you prefer a classic espresso or something a little more fancy, like a latte or a cappunccino, the baristas are true masters of their craft, and it shows in every cup.
Overall, I cannot recommend Corner Bar enough. The food is always top-notch and the service is impeccable. If you're in Bologna, you simply must give this...
