Osteria Santa Caterina — Restaurant in Bologna

:-( CHEATERS!!! We visited Osteria Santa Caterina in Bologna last night and left very disappointed not because the food was not good (it was regular, compared to other places), but because seing that we were foregners, they charged us with higher prices than the ones in the menu. For example two of the main dishes were overcharged by 5 euro more each and the third one by 4 eur. The bottle of wine was overcharged by Eur 2. On total we were overchaged by Eur 20. We felt that the bill was too high but we did not want to argue and we double checked the prices in the online menu when we got back to the hotel. Unfortunately our suspicion for overcharging was confirmed. Avoid the place, as the food is not a big deal, but it is definitely the first and only place in Italy where they have cheated us...

All’Osteria Bottega Lonely Planet suggestion was closed (even though their sign said they were open), saw several others experience the same and reluctantly stay here as this was the only other restaurant near by. This place was surprising great though! The waiter was working very hard and sweating as they probably don’t get so many customers normally (the Lonely Planet suggestion was closed). He remained very pleasant and the food was also very good. They put out an extra table to accommodate us and other guests outside. Was unintended to go here, but very glad we did. Amazing taglieri and cheese selection, especially combined with the horseradish berry sauce and the pear jam. The tortellini were lovely as always and the veal perfectly cooked with crunchy vegetables. The lasagna was to die for, soooo good. A perfect first experience for my colleague who was there visiting. And the chocolate “tenerina” cake with mascarpone at the end was almost too good to handle. The wine was also excellent. Staff and service were perfect. Kind and friendly, they welcomed me by name as I entered from the cold street into their warm and charming restaurant. 10/10...
