Mixed really. Met eventually by the doorway by a silent, gesturing waiter & shown to a seat. They must get a lot of tourists in here. Menus handed over, no wine list then he vanishes for ten minutes.
Decor is classic wood panelling throughout, silk wallpaper in the panels could maybe be updated? Bit of the wood looked like it need freshening up; probably was decorated 25 years ago.
Our man popped back up & apologises. We order, menu is pretty decent classic stuff. No wine list, "Local wine?". It's okay to be fair. Someone in the back somewhere is coughing to death apparently, it's infrequent enough not to bother you too much.
Starters came, not described that well on the menu but food was nice. Mains came, really nice. Not massive portions but the Veal was beautiful. Roast (fried?) potatoes were literally just out so radiating heat dramatically.
We pushed our luck with deserts which tasted bought in, quite average. The chocolate sauce for the affogato came out of a big jug that looked like it lasted for a month. There was a firm bit on top that the waiter worked around.
We were charged for water, didn't have any. We weren't even asked if would like some (glasses were on the table). Fine, that comes out of the tip.

Read moreTruly one of my favourite meals in Bologna, if not the very best, out of a 10 day trip through the region and the city. My god. It takes a lot to truly impress me but Luciano did. I ate here twice, at the start and at the end of the trip, and find it difficult to say which experience was better, lunch or dinner! We sampled a lot of the menu and not one dish let us down. Dishes from both times attached!
The Lasagne Verdi was to die for but it’s the braised beef that really steals the show (and if you can, try to get the Gorgonzola ravioli). Just sumptuous. The service was friendly and warm, a placed almost filled with only locals on the occasions we went, another plus of eating in a city like Bologna. There’s a lot of great restaurants in this city - but make sure you don’t leave this one out. You don’t know what...
Read moreHad the best dinner experience here tonight. The service was superb and the food was amazing, I could cry. We had the mortadella for appetizer, and they were so light and heavenly and it complemented so well with their in-house bread. I wish I could get bread as that good back home. Then we had the tortellini in broth and the traditional tagliatelle in ragu. They were so good, I’m going to dream about them. Everything tasted like it was made with love and care. Hubs got the osso buco and I had the breaded pork fried with cheese. Both very savory and scrumptious. If I had more time in Bologna, this would be the place I would eat again and again. We sat out on their quiet terrace and it was beautiful...
