Although Taverna del Postiglione was recommended to me by a local friend, I was wary. From what I had gathered online, it sounded like a tourist trap. However, she assured me it wasn’t and against my better judgement, I decided to give it a try.
To start, although we had made a reservation for outside, we were given the most uncomfortable table for two right behind the servers’ station. Furthermore, other customers constantly walked behind us, crowding us even more.
My friend and I ordered the lasagna and the beef with salt and rosemary, respectively, with a side of spicy collard greens to share. The lasagna could have been from the frozen section of any grocery store- the pasta was extremely overcooked, and the filling made it almost soggy. In fact, I have had better slices from Trader Joe’s. The meat was nothing more than average at best, although the rosemary added a nice touch. And the collard greens were… spicy.
To drink we shared a bottle of the Barbera riserva del monticino, which was fine, though we had to take nearly half of it with us given the poor quality of the food, since it would have been too much to finish.
The most upsetting part for me was that I wanted to take my friend out for a good meal since she had never been to Bologna and it was the only night she had free, but it was spoiled by an establishment that couldn’t care less about quality in the face of a quick...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant today with a group of 11 adults and one toddler. Overall, the experience was okay, and most of the food was decent. The desserts, particularly the tiramisu, crème caramel, and zuppa inglese, were really enjoyable.
However, I was very disappointed with the gnocchi with prawns I ordered. The dish had a strong, unpleasant smell and was impossible to eat, so I had to return it. The server suggested it might just not be to my taste, as other orders of the same dish hadn’t received complaints. But having eaten gnocchi with prawns in Italy and other parts of Europe, I know what to expect, and unfortunately, this dish fell far short of that. What I really didn’t like, though, was the fact that while we were seated at our table, more than six times street vendors approached us, trying to sell flowers, toys, and other things we didn’t need. Why allow these people on the restaurant's territory? It made me feel uncomfortable, especially as they pushed things towards my toddler, assuming I’d buy them. When you reserve a table for dinner at a restaurant, you come to eat, not to be bombarded with unnecessary items. The service was polite, and the desserts were great, but the overall experience was...
Read moreThis place was recommended by locals. *The food was really good. Selection of fresh pasta and tortellini is great. I had le chicche del postiglione, pasta stuffed with spinach and ricotta in creamy sauce with crispy prosciutto and shaved truffles on top. Really tasty and portion is solid as primi piatti. *Service was poor, slow, unfriendly the whole impression was like they can be bothered to serve the guests. As we were seated outside had to come inside to ask for stuff. Starter and pasta were brought at the same time, so you are forced to eat pasta first so it doesn’t get cold and burrata afterwards, which wasn’t the idea. So if you can ignore the service elements the...
