Bar Trattoria Mainardo — Restaurant in Burggrafenamt - Burgraviato

Finding authentic Italian (and South Tyrolian) food in Meran is not easy, especially if you want something that's a bit less touristic than the average restaurant, which you would find on one of the main streets.

Luckily we found this little gem of a restaurant which is operated by a small family, with the "mama" in firm control 🤗 Our first attempt to get a table was in vain because the place is kind of small and the reputation is obviously not a secret anymore - it is packed from the first minute they open (7 pm) until the close. So, a reservation is definitely in order!

We ended up eating there twice within three days and were super happy with everything we had. Between the five of us we tried most meals on the (small) handwritten menu... Bruschetta, Focachia, pasta Carbonara, Bolognese, Ravioli, Gulasch, Tiramisu, cake... Everything was freshly homemade and you could taste it. Mama and her daughter took good care of us and made sure we could barely walk when we left (because we ate too much) 😂 The open wine was good enough to have with dinner.

The value for money here is the best I found in Meran. I cannot recommend this little family...

Such a lovely spot! It feels like dining in someone’s living room. The service is incredibly warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The food was excellent—no complaints at all. We also tried the Prosecco, Americano, and red wine with our main dishes, and everything was great.

At one point, the lights went out, but it actually added to the fun—people turned on their phone lights, clapped, and enjoyed the moment. They had it fixed within a minute or so.

Il menù è un vero e proprio viaggio nei sapori tradizionali. I canederli, sono un must per chi vuole assaporare l’autenticità della cucina tirolese. Anche gli amanti dei dolci troveranno pane per i loro denti: lo strudel di mele, preparato in casa, è semplicemente delizioso, per non parlare del tiramisù (che ci è stato gentilmente offerto): a detta di mio marito, grande estimatore del suddetto dolce, è stato ad oggi il migliore mai gustato! Cremoso e con caffè caldo… assolutamente da provare!

Un altro grande punto di forza della Trattoria è l’eccellente rapporto qualità-prezzo. In un ambiente turistico come Merano, trovare un ristorante dove si mangia bene, con porzioni generose e a prezzi onesti, è davvero una fortuna! Consiglio vivamente di prenotare in anticipo, perché il locale è molto frequentato, specialmente nei fine settimana. In sintesi, la Trattoria Bar Mainardo è il posto ideale per chi vuole gustare piatti autentici in un ambiente informale e accogliente.
