Mirkos in Castellmare del Golfo offers a culinary experience not to be missed. From the quality of the food to the excellent service and welcoming atmosphere, Mirkos offers an all-around gastronomic experience.
The kitchen greeting a trio with fish, chips and kracker with mayonnaise was tasty and made lust to more. The first course including the mixed salad and the "Don't Call Me Caprese" salad were delicious. But honestly the mixed salad was pretty boring and the tomato not yet ripe - while the "Don't Call Me Caprese" salad was an exciting variation on the classic Caprese salad. The combination of fresh ingredients and creative flavor combinations in this dish was a testament to the attention to detail and dedication of the kitchen team.
The main course, pistachio pasta with tuna tartare, was a real treat. The pasta was cooked al dente and topped with a rich sauce of pistachios and finely tuned tuna tartare. The "fish symphony" presented in the form of a pizza was a unique and creative way. Each bite is an explosion of flavor that delighted the senses. Oregano, tomato, bread crumbs, fish - I loved it.
The quality of the food at Mirkos is outstanding. The ingredients fresh, the preparation expert and the presentation appealing. The food is put together with care and passion, which is reflected in each and every bite.
The service in the restaurant was very attentive and friendly. The staff well trained and always willing to assist with questions about the food or recommendations. The service was efficient and courteous, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was inviting and comfortable. The moody ambiance, tasteful decor created a relaxed atmosphere that made you feel at home.
In summary, Mirkos Restaurant in Castellmare del Golfo is an outstanding choice for lovers of fine Italian cuisine. The quality of the food was top notch, the service attentive, and the atmosphere welcoming. A visit to Mirkos is a culinary experience. Keep in mind that the prices tend to be in a higher...
Read moreWe were among the first guests on a quiet evening and were welcomed with warmth and genuine interest. The staff took time to ask about our preferences before introducing the daily specials, a small gesture that made the experience feel personal and curated.
The menu leans toward seafood, but in a way that feels inventive rather than predictable. Each dish showed both range and restraint, familiar ingredients treated with imagination. There’s a clear sense of intention behind the cooking: refined, balanced, and confident, without falling into the clichés of Mediterranean fine dining.
We ordered three dishes with a three-wine pairing, each chosen to match a course. The wines were exceptionally well-selected and complemented the food beautifully, when they arrived. One course, however, was served without its pairing, and despite several attempts, we couldn’t get a waiter’s attention to correct it. Later, a dish arrived without cutlery, and after repeated efforts to signal the staff, I eventually had to call out, by which point the food had cooled. Even a simple request for water took nearly twenty minutes.
It was clear that as the dining room filled, the team became overstretched. The attentiveness that initially bordered on over-eager turned into absence. What began as polished hospitality slid into visible strain.
Still, the culinary quality is undeniable. Mirko’s delivers cooking at a level worthy of serious recognition: seafood-driven, modern, and thoughtful, with a rare sensitivity to guest preference. It’s a restaurant of great promise, but one that now needs its service to match its kitchen. If that balance is achieved, a Michelin star would feel...
Read moreI've had dinner at Mirko's with my girlfriend yesterday during a weekend off, and I was looking for a relaxing place with fresh seafood.
Based on Mirko's Restaurant reviews I had seen here, I was expecting a very nice dinner... But, unfortunately, I can't say my requirements have been met.
On the contrary, I'm very sorry to say that our dinner was even less than average:
Raw fish of the house (starter): good (but very tiny) shrimps and scampi, but very little slice of carpaccio (almost not existent)
Arancina "affogata" (starter): arancina was clearly not fresh and rubby (I'm from Palermo, that arancina was definitely 1-2 days old)
Cous-cous (main course): mediocre, probably "commercial" (we had one the night before in San Vito lo Capo, a completely different story)
I wasn't in the mood of complaining, I just limited to share my feedback with the waiters when they showed up asking for it, pointing out that Arancina was clearly not fresh.
Result: nothing happened, neither the restaurant manager showed up to double-check with us/apologize, nor any commercial gesture of any sort have been put in place to counterbalance the poor experience (i.e. a symbolic discounts, or a digestive offered) - nothing... they just didn't care 😅
Apart from the waiter in charge of taking food orders (who was lovely and very kind), I can't really say the service was outstanding either.
Bottom line: I'm afraid I gotta say this is a place for tourists, and I wouldn't feel comfortable with...
