Magna Roma — Restaurant in Catania

Before sitting down we asked the staff if they had tiramisu. After making clear that we are only there for desert (but still we’re ready to pay the price for cutlery) the waiters discussed if we were allowed to sit down for „just desert“ even though there were several tables available inside and outside. After we were allowed to sit down we got our tiramisu fairly fast.

The presentation of the tiramisu is great and it’s an interactive eating experience, sadly I have to say that the taste of the tiramisu is not living up to the standard of the presentation.

We also wanted to drink some wine and asked for the wine card but after hearing the chatter between the staff about us „just eating desert“ we felt unwelcome and decided not to order a bottle, which seemed to have upset the staff even more.

Magna Roma oggi si è magnata pure i soldi, non me l'aspettavo, onestamente.

Peccato perché difficilmente do UNA stella ai locali e ai ristoranti dove mangio.

In breve, il conto rovina tutta l'esperienza, che come di consueto andrò comunque a trascrivere per trasparenza, ma partendo dalla voce che mi ha deluso maggiormente e per la quale abbiamo deciso di non tornare.

CONTO: 0/5 Purtroppo non è classificabile. Il conto doveva essere di 285€, alla fine ci hanno fatto pagare 315€, soldi che avremmo ben volentieri dato di mancia, piuttosto che essere presi in giro come se non sapessimo fare due calcoli. Oltretutto, dopo aver presentato scontrini e varie applicazioni con gli estratti conto della serata, non ci è stato restituito il surplus pagato perché per loro eravamo dalla parte del torto. Una truffa che mi spiace aver vissuto in prima persona con i miei compagni. Lo staff della cassa ci ha trattato come dei bambini e questo ci ha fatto riflettere che a volte è meglio lasciar perdere la gente che non vuole ragionare. Hanno perso undici clienti per 30 euro, a volte è questione di principio...

Location: 2/5 Una location troppo piccola per i coperti che fanno. Eravamo in 11 divisi in 3 tavoli, non si stava tanto comodi, soprattutto per quanto riguarda me e un altro ragazzo che ci hanno disposto dove ci sono i piedi dei tavoli.

Menù: 3/5 Abbiamo preso la maggior parte delle portate del menù (antipasti, primi, pinse e secondi). Partendo dalla prima portata: Antipasti: Supplì, secondo me precotti, riscaldati un attimo in forno perché il formaggio all'interno non era filante né sciolto. Patate fritte buone con una crema al pecorino fantastica che ne insaporiva il gusto. Primi: Per la maggior parte buoni, a mio parere personale un po' troppo salati (carbonara e zozzona). Pinse: Questa portata era buona nei sapori ed equilibrata.

Servizio: 5/5 Eccellente. Ineccepibile. Veloce. Simpatico. I ragazzi meritavano tutt'altro voto...

Urban "touristy" vibe.

Thr pizzas we ate at this place were not pretentious, even if they looked so when brought to the table. The recipes seem to be tailored for tourists not locals, as the food is a bit too salty.

The waiter explained the peccorino cheese is supposed to be a bit saltier than parmeggiano. Although I don't see why the food should be salty because if this (if you know the issue, fix it, as in prepare it with less cheese), I liked the attitude and appreciated the effort.

I would eat here again if it's close to my hotel and I'm not in the mood...
