If you’re anywhere near Catania and you don’t visit Sottovoce… you’re doing your taste buds a disservice. This place is an absolute gem — the kind of spot you stumble upon and never forget.
Let’s talk about the meat: perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and honestly, some of the best we’ve ever had. Each bite was a masterclass in simplicity and quality. You know when the ingredients speak for themselves and the chef just gets it? Yeah — that’s Sottovoce.
Speaking of the chef — what a legend! The man behind the magic is not just talented but also a true character. He reminded us of the “Soup Nazi” from Seinfeld — except with steaks instead of soup! Strict, passionate, a little intense… and totally brilliant. 😂 (“No steak for you!” – but luckily, we passed the test.)
The atmosphere is cozy, authentic, and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay long after your meal is finished — sipping wine, telling stories, and already planning your next visit.

Came here spontaneously, and knew right away I got lucky. Friendly greeting by owner and head chef personally at the entrance, casually chatting with an elderly couple from the neighborhood.
Wanted to be polite and took a small table for one which was really small and both insisted I take a bigger table for four — that’s hospitality!
Took the lunch menu, which offers a fine selection of 1st and 2nd courses. Insane value for money, 15,- EUR for fresh and delicious food made with love and dedication.
The Spaghetti with vongole were light yet you could taste the sauce, the mussels, and the spices. The calamari were also super light and crispy without any hint of oiliness. Just look at the photos and see for yourself.
It’s so nice and refreshing to find places without any unnecessary frills, where it is about food and hospitality, where the owner and the head of the kitchen do things with this magical little touch of “amore”.

I chose a blackened Aberdeen Angus(medium rate) My wife chose a fillet steak with a porcini mushroom and, I think it was, a cheese topping. We were then advised on our wine choice from the staff.
