Fantastic ! Had meals here 3 days and will go back. Very good food, not expensive, appears to be family run by three generations . Very friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed the waiters . Very polite, attentive, helpful, cordial ... perfect. Off the "restaurant row" with all the "tourist" restaurants with higher prices and poorer quality food. One street over and far better. I suggest you disregard past reviews from 2 or more years ago, concerning families with small children. We saw two families on two different occasions with 2 and 3 young children enjoying long and relaxed meals, no hassles. No problems. Other past reviews misinterpreted the menu.. complaining about the mussels on pizza dough! If you read about the local soupa mussels dish, this is exactly what it is supposed to be! It was excellent ! And lasagna, very good. Not what it is "at home" but excellent for what it is here in Sicily! (Don't expect Pizza Hut here! You came here for great Italian/Sicilian food.) Enjoy! Read moreI recently had the misfortune of eating lasagna at this restaurant, and let me be blunt: it was a disaster on a plate. The first thing that struck me was how unappetizing the dish looked. A sloppy mess of creamy sauce nearly drowned out the few visible bits of pasta, with no sign of the enticing golden-brown top one expects from a proper lasagna.
There was no layering to speak of, just a formless heap that resembled a poorly made stew more than a classic Italian dish. The taste was as disappointing as the appearance. The overwhelming amount of sauce smothered any hint of meat or cheese, and the dish was nauseatingly greasy. On top of that, the lasagna contained ham, which seemed out of place and added a strange, unwelcome flavor that clashed with the rest of the dish.
If you're looking for an authentic and flavorful lasagna experience, steer clear of this restaurant. This was a...
Read moreWhat a stroke of luck finding this gem in Cefalu! The hostess and waitress (Anastasia) could not have been nicer. Her smile and quick introduction to the menu convinced us we should go in today. Then she recommended their Caponata and Bruschetta and we quickly realized why we were meant to eat at this wonderful little restaurant. The Caponata was the best I've ever had anywhere. Anastasia then shared that the gnocchi was her favorite thing on the menu, which we ordered along with grilled vegetables. The food was fantastic and the prices very reasonable! I asked Anastasia who was the chef that prepared the caponata. Just then Mariella emerged, shared that she was the chef, and explained proudly that she was taught by her dear mother. She makes this wonderful appetizer every day. We will definitely be back to 'Nna Principe', as it's my new favorite...
