While visiting Cheflu, we walked along the beach and throughout the many streets. After some time, we became quite hungry and began to search for a simple and convenient snack. Together with my wife, we found this wonderful shop. The owner greeted us warmly and guided us to a comfortable seat where he kindly helped us to review the broad selection of sandwiches. I chose the Postilere. My wife, who suffers with dietary restrictions that cause her to avoid gluten, asked only for a recommendation of a cold refreshment. Without pausing, our host departed and quickly returned with a tall glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. My wife was delighted by the flavor of the delicious, refreshing drink. Shortly afterwards, my sandwich arrived. A panini that was warm to the touch and sumptuous in flavor. The bread was superb. A crust that was flavorful and yielded after providing a satisfying crunch. The warm, soft interior was chewy and held the contents firmly in place. And the contents…a perfect balance of wonderful prosciutto with cheese and fresh greens…all melted together to create an exquisite and rewarding bite. I was beyond satisfied. Within a minute, the wonderful man who made the sandwich stopped by our table to ask if I was enjoying his creation and I eagerly expressed my appreciation for his fine work. “Delicioso!”, I declared. Suddenly, the owner returned once more to our table, this time with a package of what appeared to be small pies made with a golden crust and filled with strawberries. The pies, he explained, were gluten free and he offered one to my wife, with his compliments. At once, my wife was thrilled by his kind and thoughtful gesture, and delighted by the taste of the flavorful pie. If you find yourself in the area, you’d be well served to pay this shop and it’s wonderful owner a visit. You’ll be pleased...
Read moreWe have visited this fantastic bistro style establishment while having a day in Cefalu. The restaurant is a casual style, modern place, with very kind and attentive staff, speaking perfect English. The food is local, they are porud of every ingredient that they use, they celarly mark the origion of them on their menu. Food is basicly locally sourced but presented in a modern, upbeat, casual way, and most importantly mindblowingly delicious! They have such delicaices as pork made from a local black pig similar to that of Spain. Also they have horse and donkey meat, which of the latter I've never tried before, but it was one of my most unique and delicious burgers I've ever tasted. For refreshments definietly try the freshly squeezed pomegranate and...
Read moreWe came to Cefalu on Sunday in January when most of the restaurants were closed. We came to Foodda for a dinner and we were quite satisfied. The only thing I could complain about was the extreme heat of the pasta. You could tell it wasn’t made on the spot, just heated up. The next day we went there for lunch and asked for birra moretti, since we know this beer. The waiter said he didn’t have this one but he offered a different one. It turned out he did not offer us the substitute for birra moretti in the same price range but he got us beer for 7 euro. We felt like he tried to trick us like stupid tourists. We asked for different kinds of pasta, in the end we got the same pasta but with different accompaniment. In general we dont have...
